I have many friends who have Zune products. Not one of them had any trouble at all with them. They would tell me how much better the Zune was compared to the I-pod so I bought one for my daughter. She loves it ''but'' about two weeks after she first got it, she plugged in in to her computer to charge,left it in over night. When she went to turn it on the next day it was dead. It would not do anything. The computer would not even recognize it. Microsoft is being really supportive and replacing it. They told me that a small amount of the 4gb and 8gb have battery problems. My family and I own Microsoft products they have always backed them up with good warranties. Maybe when she gets her 4gb Zune back I will give the quality a 5 star rating.

Got this as part of a $77 package with the FM transmitter and a case for my daughter. Used to be that these were $100 or so and the FM was $90 also.
I like iPod Touch but despise iTunes and quite like the Zune devices and software so that was my motivation for going Zune in our household. The $15 all-you-can-download plan is pretty nice, and it's REALLY nice that you get to keep 10 songs per month as un-DRMd files as part of that plan! Effectively $5 a month for all the music you want.
BUT! (there's always a but) I've ordered two of these flash Zunes (8GB and 4GB) and neither of them came out of the box without a hitch. I had to wrestle with both to get them to charge... a real pain in the butt and it would be REALLY off-putting for non techies. After awhile no my AC charger it started a reboot cycle, and I believe I got it working by pressing the

I received my Zune as a Christmas gift. I tried to charge it and it was defective. I have not been able to use it yet and am waiting on Microsoft to send me a shipping label for a replacement. It was a great deal and it came with the free car kit and leather pouch when my son purchased it for me.
