A tad pricey but oh so worth it!

I had a previous NAS that I spent a few hundred dollars on and was quite disappointed with it. After unloading it, I didn't want to make the same mistake. While more than I wanted to spend, the Iomega StorCenter had 4 times the storage capacity of my previous one. When I received it, I discovered to my delight that it was very easy to setup with a very good response time. I did not have to re-login each time I wanted to access the drives like I did with my old one. I'm quite pleased with the setup, performance, and operation of this unit.

ix4 comes with some very strong options

The Iomega ix4-200d has some very strong points that help me to recommend the product to my friends and associates. It is leading in the four bay NAS device category. The ix4 allocates space automatically for iSCSI LUNs, NFS shares, SMB shares and AFP shares. To top it all, the Bluetooth upload is another added feature. This NAS server comes with a no removable drive bays. The ix4 comes with an external power adapter. I would say this is the most suitable device in the network storage category that can provide more storage option and at the same time offer loads of other features. Premium features like the dual GbE connection, iSCSI block access, multiple RAID configurations along with easy file sharing are some of the features that can be added to the NAS servers never ending list.

Great features at attractive price

There is no way I am going to trust a single drive desktop after the recent hard drive crash where I lost all my valuable data. I turned my attention to multiple drives, encryptions and even NAS but all seemed to be expensive and complicated. I wanted a device that is easy to operate and maintain, and at the same time at an affordable cost. This is when Iomega came out with their new range of StorCenter ix4-200d version. The price did not pinch my pocket and the features sounded attractive. Now it rests next to my desktop doing more than what I wanted. For greater performance the device supports dual gigabit Ethernet ports. The ix4 supports NFS, SMB and AFP apart from being Active Directory compatible. The ix4 is certified by Microsoft server 2003 and 2008. Backup can be scheduled using the backup software that is part of the package.

Best NAS device

I decided to buy Iomega 34791 StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Edition NAS for my small office. If you are looking for home network storage device then this is not the one for you. But to tell you the truth I needed expert advice to setup the NAS as I am no IT expert and was glad that Iomega technical support was cordial and at the same time competent enough to clarify all my doubt and got my device running. Taking backup was so easy with StorCenter as the pack comes with free software like Mozy. Transferring content from the external hard disk is easy as all that was needed was to plug in the device to the USB port. There is no need of a computer for the transfer to happen.
