Good product; very loud fan

I bought this enclosure to replace the drive bays I was losing when switching from an old Mac Pro to a new Mac Mini. I have a 1 TB and a 2 TB drive in the enclosure, and turned JBOD off, so multiple volumes appear on the desktop. Drive installation was easy and the enclosure works fine, except for one thing: the fan is ridiculously loud in my quiet office. Especially next to the Mac Mini, which has an SSD and is almost completely silent. The enclosure is louder than my old Mac Pro! I ended up needing to buy a 10-meter active USB cable (it has a built-in repeater to handle the length) from Monoprice so I could put the enclosure in a closet and still have it connected to the Mini.

Easy to install! Mac Friendly

I was afraid I was going to have to reformat the hard drives I took from my PC that broke when I put them into this new enclosure. I will say that the fan, that always run when the console is on, can be a little loud but better a cool hard drive than warm... The two hard drives installed with ease, popped right up - EVEN ON MY MAC!!! Summary: Simple 2 bay enclosure, Great Product, little Nosy, only one connection, USB 2.0. and MAC Friendly.

Pretty much as advertised

Good buy, easy to access, nothing complicated about it. Works fine. Only slight negative is that the fan is loud.

Works great with two 1tb drives, never had a problem with it, use it for weekly backups with no issues.

Nothing to say but that it works great, currently running 2x 1TB WD Green drives and no issues yet...

Not The Worst But Be Careful

I went online trying to get a 99 dollar NAS. There were none to be had so I purchased this device since my wireless router supports USB drives I was going to use it to stream my media. First off do not plug this in a USB 3.0 connection. The system will drop the device and reconnect sporadically. I thought those connections were backward compatable? The connection where you plug in the USB cable is weak and wiggles too much. Wish this one had eSATA. Drive copy speed is great, but over network I could only muster up an average of 7 MBs.

Great Drive Case

After reading the reviews of this drive, I purchased. I had an old tape drive for back up.(real old version) This is half the size of my old one. I purchased 2 segate 2tb hds thats 4tb of usb storage. WORKS GREAT. I replaced one of them with the DVD micro burner. It gets 90% full it auto scans for virus then burns a backup and ejects disk. ENDLESS storage, Will buy another soon. Great job guys.

Great Product

This was my 2nd purchase of this External HD Enclosure. It worked great the 1st time so I saw no reason to try anything else. I would have liked the model with eSATA conection but the differance in price was not worth it when considering how I was going to use it.(On a Dell Studio XPS in my rig.) I don't think anyone would go wrong buying this enclosure.
