Two Nikon Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements deliver superior optical performance for both digital and 35mm photography. ED glass minimizes chromatic aberrations, contributing to superb contrast and resolution performance.
Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet auto focusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject-working distance through the focus range.

A rugged lens with a nice wide sweet spot. My quivering hands were able to take some real nice photos all the way down to 1/4 second (hand held). I'm not some pro who has lots of dough to spend so this was a big deal to me. It's large and heavy as compared to today's modern day lenses but worth the weight in oil. Rubber gasket is a nice idea on the metal mounting plate. My only problem was suddenly a camera bag that had been plenty big was no longer large enough to carry this lens and other lenses. One evening the weight of the lens tipped my camera bag and it fell from about 5' onto a paved parking lot. It worked normally but had a strange rattling noise inside. A small part had broken loose and required repair. Overall I would reccomend this lens to a friend with a reccomendation they buy a bigger bag and keep it zipped at all times. |
