the unit works great for what i use it for-capturing video to harddrive, but as previous review says to edit it's easier to capture and then edit in WMM. although the colors do seam to get washed out a little bit in the translation I have no real complaint about that. my only complaint is that the software is a little strange to install-but once installed it works just fine---I would recommend to anyone that simply wants to take old video and transfer to computer |

I have a bunch of VHS movies most are used from video rental stores. The device works fine with Window XP, you get a watchable copy, though the color is a little dull. Ended up using my dvd burner software (nero4) as what was provided did not work. Would not work with my vista laptop could not get the drivers to install. For some people you might want a higher end device, but if all you want is to move vhs to dvd this product is worth the price. |

This gadget copies VHS tapes to your computer well.
However, burning DVDs so that they can be played on a DVD player is another matter. You can achieve at least an MPEG DVD that your computer can read; thus a long lasting medium for your precious memories. The editing software is basic with no frills like you have in Windows Movie Maker.If you are on the edge with minimum hardware requirements you may find even the tape copying results to be less than satisfactory. all in all it is worth the $40. |

The product works under XP but I wasn't able to get capture to work under Vista. The edit function is rather crude. When trying to clean up a tail the in point is easy to set but the out point, usually the end of video, can't be set with any accuracy so you get some unwanted frames. |

I have a bunch of old movies I made with my friends that I can only play on an old, falling apart camcorder....I was able to use this device to hook my camcorder up to my PC and easily record video. The only problem I have is that when I hook my camcorder to my TV, it shows up in color, but recording through this device shows it to be black and white. Not quite sure why that is, maybe just my old camcorder, because a newer camcorder I have is just fine...but the quality is great and is perfect for what I need. |
