| Blackberry 8820 Unlocked GSM Smartphone The Blackberry 8820 smartphone should be on the wish list of every person here on Earth. It is equipped with a built-in GPS navigation tool, a QWERTY Keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth capability for hands-free dialogue via headsets and car kits. It also doubles as a media player, and has a voice dialing feature.
Touted as the smartphone that gets things done in stye, the BlackBerry 8820 smartphone supports GSM, GPRS and EDGE mobile technology, including GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 modes. It has a TFT touch-screen display that supports 256,000 colors and 240x320-pixel resolution. The high resolution display is also light-sensing screen that is able to adjust the lighting levels according to indoor or outdoor conditions. It also has a trackball and backlights for easy navigation.
Not to be outdone in mobile technology innovation, the smartphone is also armed with handwriting and speech recognition in Chinese and English languages. It runs on an Intel XScale 312MHz processor which can more than handle multiple tasks including the organizer, the Internet browser, BlackBerry Maps and GPS function, and corporate data access. Having a Wi-Fi function allows the Blackberry 8820 to connect to any Wi-Fi network so you could enjoy accessing the latest news and other information via the Internet.
Primarily as a phone, it can record 30 dialed, 30 received and 30 missed calls. Not to mention, it also has advance and photocall memory. The smartphone boasts tethered modem capability so that it can be used as a wireless modem for notebook and desktop PCs.
Managing contacts, business files, photo album and playlists will not be torture because it has 3.5MB phonebook memory, 8MB user memory and an expandable microSD card slot. To browse Internet sites, it uses WAP 2.0 and HTML and runs on a Linux operating system. Users can send messages using several tools including SMS, EMS, MMS, and instant messaging.
To support business applications, it features a Personal Information Manager (PIM) tool. PIM is featured in Blackberry smartphones only. It includes a calendar, an address book, tasks and memopad--programs that will help the user organize his schedules with ease. The smartphone also has a Picsel document viewer, photo editor and built-in handsfree function. It runs on a standard 850mAh Li-Ion battery and has four hours of talk time and 200 hours of stand-by time. Security is also covered. The Blackberry 8820 has password protection and keyboard lock and support for AES or Triple DES encryption when integrated with BlackBerry Enterprise tool.

Meh!
This company was great as always - fast delivery with no problems. Cannot really recommend the phone though: Bought it to use as a basic cell phone and then take advantage of the WiFi since I spend most of my life in a WiFi zone. However, what BB does not want you to know is that most BB apps only work with a data plan - there is nothing I've found to be functional and useful on WiFi alone. Also, the phone cannot be upgraded past OS 4.5 - all new apps are on OS 6, so be prepared to be disappointed again. So, unless you're willing to buy a data plan this phone is just a fat cell phone - and if you can afford a data plan why would you buy a slow, old 2G phone?? Get an Android phone instead!

OK, but not great compared to other blackberries
I had this phone for my company cell phone. It's better than your average cell phone, but not great compared to other blackberries. For starters, this phone would have up to a 15 minute delay on receiving emails despite settings being verified with IT so that it would arrive ASAP. When my company upgraded me to the Tour, I often received my emails BEFORE they came through to outlook on my computer. Call quality isn't entirely dismal, but the signal isn't the strongest and my BB curve and Tour both had better clarity.

blackberry 8820 nice
This is a great phone. I bought the refurb for $119.00. Once it came in updated the os to 4.5 and installed blackberry aps. Lots of apps available for it. For a cheap smart phone works great. Every thing I needed. Lot

Good deal
I love this little phone, very handy. This was a replacement for another phone that i got, that i did not like and it was broken. I want to give kudos to this site for using PDA giant warranty service, they bring back the meaning to customer service. It is a good phone, im happy with the service and replacement.

Berrys are UNBEATABLE!
I must say that no other cell phone I have ever had compares to my new Blackberry. I love this phone and reccommend it to EVERYONE! It really has awesome features and I especially love the BBMing. I'd love if anyone could give me some sort of feedback to let me know if I can use this phone on a prepaid plan like Straight Talk? It would be saving me over $500 a year by switching and I would be getting great coverage. Thanks!
