Good product for business purposes
We actually have more then 50 units working in our company using a dedicated Windows 2008 64 bit server which hosted 3 virtuals Windows 2008 32 bit Servers each one handling about 20 L230 units. Main uses are running an application based in Lotus Domino and Internet browsing. For both the performance is very good. As other reviewers have said, they are not good for video playing.

Massive Hidden Costs!!!
Even though they advertise half the price of a base PC there are still massive licensing costs you must implement. You can only legally connect 1 user to a Win XP Vista 7 install. You must upgrade to a server edition of Win which costs $1000, about 10 Win XP Vista 7 licenses. You must make sure you have a Client Access License per user or device as any type of connection to a server edition requires these. You must make sure you have a Terminal Services License per user or device because yes, you guessed it, this is a Terminal Services implementation. You cannot run any type of OEM software and have to look into Volume Licensing. You now have multiple people running programs on the same machine so higher end hardware is required such as faster hard drive and processor. Much, much more RAM is needed since you will have each user with 3,4,5 programs open at once. Do the cost review first people

Works Fine.
It works!, but, the USB plug that it has only supports VERY basic devices (Flash Drive, Mouse and Printer); If you need to have a Signature Pad, Credit Card reader and stuff like that, better off purchasing a small computer.

Great value for your money, but restrictive
Pros: This item works perfectly well in a windows environment, including the controversial windows vista, and the newer windos 7. Excellent choice for price restricted networks, it allows for an inexpensive infrastructure. Cons: It requires the user to purchase PS2 keyboard and Mouse, because the usb port in the system is only one and it's just an extension of the server computer.

USB Feature rocks!
I own some of these and the L120 product. I like this higher model because you can plug flash drives into the USB, or in my case a USB printer.

Good product, but no multimedia
These are really good if you are only looking for basic or business apps to run. Multimedia, like playing any video is horrible. But for a normal business setup they work very well with no real limitation on where you place the host computer. If you need multimedia support I am told the X series works really well, but keep in mind the device must be under 10 meters from the host computer.

Great for Specific Applications-
These units are great if you know what you need and have the specific application to suit them. If you are sharing a single app among many users, and there aren't huge licensing issues, nothing works better for the price.

Great Product
I am currently purchasing my 6th one of these. Running on an XP Pro desktop. This is great. My company has always had trouble keeping every computer up to date. Insurance business which has a lot of different software from each company we work with. Now we only have one computer to update, makes everything real easy to use. And anyone can sign on at any computer. So now if the receptionist is off one day, anyone can sit at the front desk and work there as if it were there own. Total time, money, and energy saver. I agree with everyone else on video, it can't play video well. It won't freeze up, but it just skips frames. The voice (sound) isn't affected.

good idea
every thing worked fine except for the fact that it does not support USB 2.0!! I am setting up these units in an advance Denist office and almost all of the new equipment, requires USB 2.0

I have also recently been tasked with deploying this device for my organisation.. Initial testing was extremely frustrating when using an XP based server but it worked smoothly on a win 2003 Enterprise server. The only difficulty now is getting the upgrade patches automatically and timely. So far I've had to manually point to a downloaded version to initiate upgrade. Still though the upgrade only covers admin console functionality and not quality. I have resolved the issue of XP server initiation by removing windows HOTFIX but still maintaining my firewall as I'm not a great fan of Windows update anyways. All else seems fine, incluive of all plug and play devices.
