Microsoft One Care (Windows Live One Care) provides you with 100% windows compatible solutions to virus protection and firewall problems. I was actually very relieved when I found out that Microsoft had finally released an anti-virus software because I've used McAfee, Norton, Registry Mechanic, and many others, but I found them to be incomplete or they would interfere with core windows applications (AVOID McAfee AT ALL COSTS!), registry mechanic is next to useless (especially if you've upgraded to Vista) and thus have found no need for it's inclusion into this product. I build/service computer systems and networks, and have found this product to be well worth the investment. Also if you are buying/building/upgrading a computer I would suggest Windows Vista Premium (heavy multimedia users) or Business (Browsing/email/gaming) for an OS because contrary to popular beief these new OS's are easier to use and not bug prone. The gui is slightly different from XP, but that's good.

I have used OneCare for about 1.5 years. When it came time to renew for $49.00 I decided to try the free(with rebates) System Mechanic. I used System Mechanic about two months until I saw OneCare for free.I got rid of System Mechanic and went back to OneCare here is why. Does not slow system down very much. Can back up and print from my laptop to central computer. Has feature to automatically configure your router for security. Can view status of all three computers from my central. The only negative is it does not have a regestry repair feature which it absolutely needs. It pretty much is a set and forget program that does a fairly good job.

OneCare delivers what it says it will. Nothing more, nothing less. Can't ask for more than that, especially considering the price.

This product really doesn't do much. The so called performance tune-up features are automatic scheduling of disk clean-up and defrag. These are features of Windows for a long time so why pay a lot of money to automate. Back-up and restore are part of any accessory drive for back-up. Firewall is part of XP. The internet safety programs are on par with most others. Caught a virus and MS tech support were slow to respond and their advice did not work. Ended up using fdisk and starting fresh. Program takes a lot of resouces when running especially when tune-up starts. Doesn't make it easy to shut off. Auto download and install of updates can be a problem especially if one of them is not solid and continually causes crashes duing start-up. For a product to be called ''one Care'' it should include a registry optimizer, but MS say no plans to make it part of the package. Solved all problems with uninstall of ''No Care'', using something else.
