Geat addition if upgrading to small frame desktop.

Just bought a Gateway SX 2870 with no expansion ports, but I had a new Lightscribe DVD Burner in the old desktop. Love to burn disk to disk. This was a relatively inexpensive way to create an external drive from my existing internal drive. One screwdriver was all it took. From box to working product in less than 15 minutes. 4 stars on features becaus I felt supplied USB cable could be a bit longer (32 inch supplied).

Guess I was unlucky

Arrived DOA. The external power supply is dead so I have no way to power the unit until I either RMA it or replace with an equivalent power supply.

Excellent Encloser

I bought 2 of these so I could use the almost new optical drives from an old desktop that died. They work great with XP and Windows 8. I also use Sabrent hard drive enclosers to have USB external hard drives.

An external optical drive for my future Mac Mini

For some reason, Apple has decided to remove the optical drive from its Mac Mini line. Their excuse is that the new CPUs, the i5 and i7s, just do not accommodate the new streamlined feature of the new Mac Mini, and by retaining the optical drive, it becomes much too bulky. I think they just cheapened it by deleting the optical drive, keeping it the same price. That said, the external drive is a great unit to have. It is not expensive, it does its job as well as any other, more costly, units. It is simple to install, taking just a few minutes to perform. I would definitely purchase others if it became necessary.

Good case overall

The case is good and works as it should. I only have two minor complaints. The first one is that the case did not come with any rubberized feet. It can slide all over a smooth surface. Fixed easily by a trip to Lowes. :) The second complaint is that the cooling fan is a hair noisier than I would like. It's definitely noticeable when it is on. Overall I think it's a great case for the money.

I love this product. I bought a new tower and didn't realize the connection for my HP Lightscribe wouldn't match up. I bought this enclosure and it works perfectly. It maches the rest of the computer components beautifully and the cd drive works even better in the enclosure than it did in my old tower. I would highly recommend this product.

did not come with driver disc,screws too short to hole wd400 harddrive. I was told it would work with the harddrive. I was planning to transfer all of my files from the old win 98 but with no driver disc it is useless for my need.
