Short Life
I bought this scanner two years ago to digitize all of my old 35mm pictures & negatives. I had to let it sit until last month when I finally started using it. Installation was a snap and the software was well thought out. The scans were high quality - especially on my 35mm negatives. The scanner unfortunately died after about 350 scans. It stopped working in the middle of a scan and will no longer power up. Support is no help and my warranty is, of course expired. My HP Scanjet 6250 has been working fine for 10 years. I am going back to HP and have bought an HP G4050 to finish the job.

Great for photos, slides, and negatives!
This scanner is pretty quick. Kind of loud in and interesting way. The scans are crisp and clear, and the resolution is awesome. the inserts that come with it help line up slides, negatives and other small media for high resolution scanning.

Works so far
No complaints so far... quality is there and the reason why it was purchased was to scan 120 and 35mm film. As of now 1 month into it... all is well with a solid increase in the quality of scans that we were getting on our old scanner and printer combo.

Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner
This is an excellent scanner that is simple to use and very capable. The big bonus for me is that it will scan 6cm x 6cm slides and negatives. Few consumer-level scanners will do that. The software cleans up the images quite well overall. but for those requiring more help, the included Photoshop Elements 9 will do the job. All in all, I am very satisfied with this package.

Good Product
I like it, though it is slow. The only trouble I have had occurred when I added a usb extension cable to locate it further from my computer. It regularly scanned 3 of 4 slides. Using only the supplied cable solved the issue.

Look no further, this is the scanner you want
While i would buy something bigger and more heavy duty for a business, this is the ideal home scanner. Price is ridiculously low, id be happy to pay twice what i did. Quality is superb. As far as standing the test of time is concerned idk, ive only owned it several days. I would highly recommend this piece of equipment.

Great Toy
My brother and I bought this to scan all of the photos and slides our parents took over the years. In one weekend we scanned close to 1500 photos and slides. The scanner is easy to use and only takes a few seconds per photo.

Decent value
Been using the V500 for quite sometime now and find it does an excellent job of scanning photos, negatives, and transparency's. I think the plastic holders for slides and film are decent but a bit flimsy. Epson has shrunk the transparency window down from their previous Perfection scanner so that it no longer will scan 4 x 5 transparency's. Probably not a problem for most but is for me. Regardless I do recommend the Epson Perfection scanners.

I love it!
I bought this to scan pictures from 1994 and baby pictures of my grown son's. I also had some slides of my oldest son's first birthday that I had not seen as a photo. WOW! I am so impressed, as is my family members. It is so fast at scanning, like 10 or 15 seconds per photo. The results are stunning! I would buy again!

Two dead scanners
Bought two of these in serial; returned both for hardware failures. The first lasted 10 days, returned it. Complete power failure in the middle of a scan. Second lasted 11 days, suffered power failure immediately after a scan. Both had around 40 hours of operation in an office environment with good power. Used on separate computers on different circuits. No thunderstorms. No apparent cause. No, no, no.
