Not really what was stated
the product in all is a fair product, but i was looking for one that would handle the drive also of a laptop (more or less a universal adapter) and this one was not able to accept laptop drives. and was told this one would do the job

Easy to use Drive Adapter
Constantly updating computers and backing up data over different drives types can be a hassle. Not anymore with Cables To Go USB 2.0 to IDE or SATA Drive Adapter. Simple to use device makes backups simple.

Worked two times and failed
This product worked fine twice and never worked again. Be careful because supplier will not let you return it.

Didn't work on IDE drive - returned it
The adapter worked fine on SATA drives but didn't work on some older IDE drive so I had to return it.

Sometimes, you can believe what you read
I looked at several USB to IDE-SATA adapters; most were junk. The CTG adapter had an overwhelming amount of positive comments, so I decided to give it a try. This little gem has worked well on everything I've connected to it. Liked it so much we picked a few up for our disaster recovery kits at work.

Excellent product
I had 8 drives gathering dust in a closet, mostly Windows 3.5'' ATA, but also a 2.75'' from a laptop and a few Mac formatted drives. Maxtor, WD, Quantum, Hitachi. 6 of them worked and 2 had mechanical problems. The cables were easy to connect -- no bruised knuckles poking around in a chassis. The power supply, power switch, and USB connector had LEDs so you could easily see if your connections were OK. Just remember to power up the drive, THEN attach the USB cable.

Awesome Product!
My first plan was to get a new hard drive, then put the failed hard drive in the as a data drive. But my computer would not start at all with the fail drive inside. I found this adapter from cables to go and ordered it. It's amazing. Not only did it read my failed SATA drive, it also allowed me to access a failed IDE drive from my previous computer. When I attached my failed drive through the USB connection, my computer saw it as an external storage device and allowed me full access to all my data! I can't say enough good things about this drive adapter. It has allowed me to saved all my data from my failed hard drive.
