FYI on the software issue
just ordered this drive even though the review said that there is no software to play blu-rays... so i went to asus's website which then led me to Cyberlink PowerDVD site where u can download the free version of the player which supports blu-ray..... so this is not a hard fix just wanted to let you know its still worth the buy. Asus is the best quality out there.

the product i received is not a blue-ray player only a regular dvd-rw drive. sending it back.

Excellent hardware but...
Let me make this short and sweet: this reader works great, even with 3D Blu-Ray... but it comes completely devoid of software (beyond the drivers necessary to install it). I had to buy PowerDVD seperately to use this at all with Blu-Ray discs. As an OEM it is an awesome deal but you need to know that you have to purchase software if you want to play Blu-Ray discs (you can always play DVDs with VLC ;-) )
