Item performed exactly as it was supposed to work. If moving up to larger hard drive remember to add the remaining partition as this device will copy exactly as the original.

MAKES EXACT COPY

This little jewel makes an exact copy of an old drive. I was updating an old computer with a new drive. It still showed as 160gb drive even though the new one was 500gb. At first I could not get it to work so I called mfg tech suport. There is a power button by the power cable that needs to be ON..

Fantastic stand-alone

While it isn't the fastest solution, it certainly has saved me. The stand alone duplication of 1TB drive takes just under 2 hours. But because it isn't tying up my pc, I can continue to work on other things. I've duplicated the same drive (mass deployment of new pc's) over 15 times now and every one has been perfect.

Versatile with the USB port

This SATDEPUE is a beauty. I first used it to clone the old 160GB hard drive to the new 500GB already installed in a laptop, booted off the CD drive, using WDC software. Second, when my external hard drive went bad and was unreadable, I tore the hard drive out and connected it to StarTech. The hard drive was good so the circuit board going to the drive must have been bad. Instruction page in sort and to the point. The blinking lights showing hard drive activity is a nice touch.
