Poor Performance

Ordered this product along with a brand new laptop. Installed Total Defense and the computer slowed down and websites would not load correctly or all the way. I called Total Defenses tech line after adjusting all of its settings and was on hold for an hour. I uninstalled total defense and went back to MacAfee. The computer is back up to speed and all the website load correctly.

On par with Norton

I have no complaints it has good firewall software i havent had any intrusions. i get a few viruses but when you setup the smart scan you dont gotta worry about a thing. also updates automatically when you set it up. AWESOME PRICE FOR WHAT YOU GET. but if you need that extra something i suggest you get a PC optimizing software to fix registry issues and other stuff like that. some viruses will latch and cause minor turbulance in system stability if you OC hard!!! If you dont OC at all then you dont gotta worry since this software will remove viruses and repair minor issues. Sometimes the software doesnt repair the registry right. like i said you only notice IF YOU OC so get an PC OPT. IF you just do web surfing this is the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

Intrusive but not effective

I removed my previous virus protection but I kept getting an error message saying it was still present. I never could get total defense to finish installing so I gave up.

Outstanding for the price

Found 517 problems and quarantinedthem but did not remove them. I used superantispyware to remove the 517 cookies on my computer??? Now runs clean after scans??? Will be a good price if the rebates come back.

Will rate and see

Iam not a computer genius but can usually install a program. Had to call the support line 3 times to get it installed. As far as I know it is working.

Really messed up my computer

I couldn't get this to install properly on my computer & when I called for the free help, they said my computer needed repair & it would cost to have them do it remotely. I had the computer checked & there isn't a problem with it. This program just won't load onto my computer the way it is supposed to. My mother was going to buy it off me to use on her new laptop, but it wouldn't load on hers either. it would just look like it was loading but would never progress. Would like a refund, don't know if I can get 1 though.

OK product, but hard to get refund

I think this product targets corporations more than home users. It has lots of features for mass rollouts, but doesn't seem as strong in areas like firewalling. It took multiple phone calls, longs waits, multiple referrals to other phone numbers, a web site, and a handful of paperwork to get the refund (I hope, in a few weeks).

Verdict is still out

Although I agree with this being a great product the verdict is still out as far as the email protection goes. I can't seem to determine if it is blocking SPAM the way I am use to seeing McAfee do it. Other that that this is definitely a 5 star product.
