Solved a problem
Installed the card in an early mother board that lacked reliable eSATA. Works like a charm. My main concern was hot swap.

if you don't want to wait hours
this is the fastest eSATA interface that I've installed and used primarily for external backups. i've installed it in name brand servers, custom servers and desktops. no issues that I can think of. if the OS is new enough, the drivers will already be there. no other interface can keep up, maybe USB3. typically use this company's external enclosure for the drive(s) too. (eSATA to eSATA)

im so so about it
this card works great. but for some reason after i get done playing world of warcraft it will freeze when i try to open my files on my external. i will have to log off then log back in for it to work correctly. i no longer use this card after 2 weeks of using it. i have switched back to firewire.

This is a nice card. Works well, although it will not load XP directly from the disk on my system. I am using a Seagata Baracuda 3.0 GBPS (SATA-2) drive. I put this controller in to replace the existing 1.5 GBPS (SATA-1) controller. I got the dreaded ''can not find NTLDR'' error. Simple solution was to read the boot files from a USB memory key. This works like a charm - once the boot files have been loaded, XP loads from the hard disk. This error may not have occurred if I had loaded the O/S clean using this controller. I don't have any hard data, but overall system performance seems to be better with this card - less hangs and lags when gaming. Note that this card has a normal non-RAID bios. This is critical if you want just a replacement card. A RAID bios may not identify a single device and pass it back to the motherboard's BIOS.

Worked very well. I installed and loaded the software. I cannot tell the difference in speed between a drive on this card and one on the motherboard.
