I bought this about a year ago when I was building a cheap server. I have a small network at home with 5 computers and wanted one of those computers to hold all of my music, photos, videos, and documents. I have individual SATA Drives for the above mentioned catagories. THIS WORKS VERY WELL!!! Even in Win7, XP PRO, Vista Ultimate! No Complaints here. A Must for storage devices (HDDs).
slow performance - very disappointing

This is an older SATA-I card on a PCI bus. It is slow!! Connected a RAID-10 to it and the data transfer rate is at best 60MB-sec. My other RAID on the same PC is 3x faster. Installs well with Win7, but do not upgrade its BIOS; the card will not recognize its own RAID from the previous BIOS version.
VERY DIFFICULT TO GET WORKING!

I am a computer tech and this card I had a very difficult time getting the Gigabyte MB to boot to this. Once I got the BIOS configs correct I had a HDD in the RAID die so I have not yet got another one to fully evaluate the performance. But it does take some time to get some BIOS's to set correctly to get them to boot to his card. I see that I am not the only one to have this issue, this was under Windows 7.
Tres bonne achat
