Works fine, does what it claims.
It's great for breathing life into a older system.

Works but...
I tried this on an older ASUS MB where I abandoned the old onboard IDE and updated to a pair of 750GB SATA drives. It just would not work! I got another controller but same chipset and same problem. I decided it must be MB issue so I had to connect a floppy to attempt BIOs update and to my surprise, it started working. It was previously just instantly saying to press a key to reboot when it was supposed to boot. It saw the drives but nothing. Again, added floppy and things worked. MB issue I am sure so I do not want to blame the card but in case you have this happen, consider my experience to move past it. Now that its working, it does exactly what I want - JBOD under Fedora Linux 14 so I can do software MD RAID1. As others have noted, these 4 ports are shared. You have to set jumpers to activate the ports you want, internal and or external.

Worked has advertised
This raid card is used in a FREENAS system. Worked right out the box with a soft(freenas managed) raid 1. Documentation is skimpy has to be useless. Can't vouch performance wise as I'm on wireless. But this card is able to handle the data load of streaming ripped from CD videos no problems.

Good Card For the Price
Pros: Works out of the box no problems. Cons: Junk sata cables both were defective.

Average Performance, Unbeatable Price
I bought this RAID controller for a file server machine to set up a RAID1 for backup purposes. As other users have stated, there is NO useful documentation of any sort... there's the card, the CD and that's it. That said, for anybody who's familiar with setting up RAID arrays, installation went beautifully. Plugged in the card, plugged in the hard drives, started up the machine, went into the RAID controller setup and everything was done. Had the RAID array completed in less than 10 minutes. Price point is absolutely unbeatable. You aren't going to get blazingly fast speeds out of this card but you will get something that works out of the box and is perfect for basic arrays.

Worked just fine...
Easy install, no difficulties at all, and it seems just as fast as the on-board SATA interface... very good!

A Good Product that works as advertized
Because of the SSD I needed more conections for my other hard drives. It took about 5 minutes to take apart computer, put in the card, and then loaded from a different site since windows 7 would not load from the disc. Now I have more Drive space then I will ever need and am happy knowing I will not need to worry!

Easy to use
With my recent purchase of a 8-core system I found the extra controller handy to work with. Nice to have it around.

One slick device
Worked great right out of the box. I used it on an old Tyan server mother board that had no SATA support. Setup raid 1 with a couple of 500GB hard drives I had laying around. Good stuff.
