Didn't Work for Me
I purchased this item for a specific purpose; to tether a digital camera to a laptop computer. I tried it with two different cameras (both supported by the software) and two different laptops: one a PC, the other a MAC. It just would not work. I then tried it in a far simpler context, as an extension for a B&W laser printer. Again, nothing. Finally, I tried it as an extension for a label printer. Suddenly it worked. Unfortunately, that's not the purpose for which I purchased it. I have no idea why this would be the case. I subsequently purchased an identical cord (in terms of specs) from another manufacturer (Tether Tools) and it worked flawlessly with the same camera and computer equipment. Yes, the second cord was more expensive. I guess it proves you get what you pay for.

Works great
I am using it with a multi-function and it is 25 feet away from my workstation. There is no loss in speed even when scanning high res images.

Have bought 3 and they work perfectly.
It is not worth getting a cheap USB extender. Save the headaches and get this one. 16' of extension has saved me three times recently: two laser printers and one USB-enabled monitor that I couldn't reach with the standard USB cable because the monitor itself had been extended with a 10' cable. Zero problems and works fine on all 3 installs. Would buy again immediately if I needed another one. REMEMBER: this is an extension. You still need a regular USB cable to plug into it.

USB extension cable for a laser printer
Good, cost-effective solution for a stand-alone Brother laser printer that must be placed 15-20 feet from the desktop computer. The standard USB printer cable (typically 4 to 6 feet) attaches to the printer, and then to the extension cord female end, and that cord runs to the computer as an L along two walls of a small office with male end inserted in computer USB port. This allows printer to be set on a stand about 20-22 feet of cable distance away. USB 2.0 cables longer than the 4-6' standard need to be able to handle bidirectional impulses in a manner that overcomes timeout problems over greater cable lengths than the standard. So far, this Sabrent extension cable works for us with a Win-XP Pro desktop and non-wireless Brother printer.
