Cisco RVS4000 4-port Gigabit Security Router
Protection of your network is a mission critical activity. At Cisco, we build powerful security into every product, to keep your wired and wireless networks safe. Cisco Small Business Series systems have advanced firewall, encryption and authentication features to protect you from network threats – threats that can seriously disrupt or damage your business by stealing your valuable data, slowing down your network and interfering with business-critical applications. Our systems ensure maximum application availability enabling you to meet corporate governance and business continuance requirements. The Cisco Small Business Series is the affordable, reliable, high quality networking solution that helps you do business smarter. Secure and easy to install and maintain, it’s built to grow with your business.
As broadband speeds increase most 10/100 gateways do not have the power to support those higher data rates, and thus become the bottleneck in the network. The Cisco RVS4000 4-port Gigabit Security Router works at Gigabit speeds to meet the demands of today's networks. It features Linksys' proven SPI Firewall with an integrated Intrusion Detection and Prevent System (IDS/IPS).
Its built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Ethernet switch can connect four PCs directly, or additional hubs and switches. The QoS features provide consistent voice and video quality throughout your business.
In addition, the Cisco RVS4000 4-port Gigabit Security Router features a Virtual Private Network (VPN) security engine that creates encrypted "IPSec tunnels" through the Internet. The IPSec VPN tunnels enable remote users from at home, or on the road to easily, and securely connect to the office network through a typical wired or wireless broadband connection. When used with another RVS4000 or other Cisco VPN router, "branch-to-branch" connections can be established allowing users in a remote office to connect to the corporate network.

I just upgrade from linksys BEFVP41 to the Cisco RVS4000 for the VPN capabilities. I could not be happier. Set-up was a little confusing because they do not call some of the settings the same thing any longer, but once I figured it out I have had NO more problems with my citrix enabled VPN tunnel disconnecting. Everything is stable and reliable. I recommend this router for anybody using VPN for their personal or small bussiness applications.

I have 2 sets of these setup right now with a remote office connecting with thier main office. Setup has been easy and performance is good for the price. I have had zero problems (unless the ISP changes thier IP address.) If needed in the future I will buy more.
solid so far

I've only had it for a coupe weeks but as of right now it works as advertised. Very fast, lots of features. I haven't set up a VPN yet so I'm not sure how well that works. Otherwise it does the job

PRO'S: Good speeds (provided you use gigabit compatible wiring...yes people Cat5 doesn't cut it. Do some research before you bash a product!) Good features within the router. Easy to read IPS (Intrusion Prevention) logs with a quick view of top IP threats that your router has seen. Helps build a multilayered protection scheme (this IPS and firewall capable router, with your anti-virus software, plus items like Windows Vista Defender, or software based internal protection schemes like ZoneAlarm). -------
CON'S: The BIG one is that it is up to Linksys to provide IPS signatures and (as of today) it's been over six months since their last signature was created. You can't add in your own definitions (for all you advanced users). I've contacted Linksys about this since I had some anomalies within my log, but they don't have projected signature update timeframes. The March 2008 signatures are fairly robust, but I am sure I am missing out on quite a bit of activity that I should be seeing.
