For a Refurbished blue ray its worth the money

Refurbished items I usually stay away from but in this case I took a chance and it seems to be a good decision so far. Would recommend this item.

Works Fine but Required Difficult Firmware Upgrade

Unit arrived and did an excellent job of playing Blueray discs and accessing online streaming content. However, as soon as I tried to check for any firmware updates I knew I had trouble. This was a while back so I don't remember the details exactly. But an error message said the current firmware was not valid and it would not do an online firmware update. I called Samsung support and they directed me to download the correct firmware and install it using a USB thumb drive. This proved to be quite tricky but eventually I got it done. Needed to unzip, get my directories straight on the thumb drive, start up the device in the correct way, and pray. Still not sure whether is works all the time or I was just lucky.

this is a fantastic deal,for 59.99 plus 20.00 rebate how can you go wrong? you can't i hooked the ethernet cable to it and bammm! netfix and internet,it's amazing, excellant picture,i'm olny using composit because i have not recieved my digital optical cable yet! has many features..i'll write more as i fiddle arond alittle more with it!thank you! what an outstanding product..

good value and performance

Bluray discs load a little slow but image quality is excellent. Firmware update are fast and painless. Samsung did an awsome job with the update software. Have only used it a few times so cannot speak to reliability.

Decent value for the money

I have 3 PS3s and another Samsung Blu-ray player. I bought this one as a gift for a friend so that they could watch our travel videos I burn to a Blu-ray disc. I was disappointed to see that this player doesn't recognize a stand-alone AVCHD file type. It does recognize m2t and mpeg2 files but seems to be particular somehow about mpeg2 files. All the mp2 files made with my Corel editing software work fine, but the same file types made with my Pinnacle software will not play. Every video that would not play on this player all play fine on the 4 other BR players in the house. I know, it doesn't make sense but I spent two evenings trying various options. It plays a standard Blu-ray movie just fine. The video quality (when it does play ) is very good. The player doesn't have wi-fi but does connect with a cat5 cable and connects easily to the internet for updating. It also has a usb port for updating from a flash drive. Excellent value for the money.

Well worth the price

We were looking for an inexpensive way to play Blu-ray discs through our surround sound and this fills the bill. We really like the 1080p upconverting. So far we have no complaints and recommend it to anyone. Video and audio are both great.

Almost Plug & Play

Fast delivery, easy setup, easy update of software over internet, picture quality and sound are great, upconverting of DVD content looks good. My only downside is the screen going black when the unit is transitioning between functions and content.

Broke after less than 30 days!

Worked fine for a few weeks then stopped recognizing Blurays. DVDs freeze up or get all choppy. Tried with new DVDs so I know it's not the discs. Last time I try purchasing a refurbished product. Just hope I can return or exchange this.
