Not a true color

The system is easy to install. I had to buy a longer cable for the cameras that i installed on the back side of my house. My biggest issues is the color of the display. I don't know if it's the DVR itself or the cameras. The color is not a true color. All greens look like grayiish looking and reds look like pink. I hope tha if i replace the cameras with a bit expensive ones will correct my problem.

Id go with another system, Too much Noise

I bought this system from online, it was on sale for $529.99. The idea of a 16 channel dvr with 8 cameras is great for anyone looking to boost or add security to their home or office. The only issues i had with this product was the fan noise from the DVR. It sounded like my CPU running at maximum performance all the time!! For me thats alot of noise to tolerate. I called night owl thinking it was something wrong with the unit i got and thats what they night owl representative thought as well after i put the phone next to the DVR. I got another one shipped with in a few days. when i opened my package the first thing i went for was the DVR i plugged it in and within a minute i was getting the same noise like the first one. I ended up returning the camera system and asking for a refund. I went with a similar deal from another company, I ended up with better quality cameras and a better quality DVR! :)

Awesome system

Everything works well. The smartphone app is amazing, but the web browser viewer only works with IE, and you have to basically turn ActiveX security off totally. Cables need to be longer for most applications, but everything else is great!

Great for my business

I bought this product for business use and i dont have time to install this product myself so i called the installation team that was provided. They came out insalled all 8 cameras and it all worked great. i didnt really believe that the tech support was open after regular business hours so one night i was working late so i called just to see if it was really

Good Experience

I am an installer of security products and just started buying some Night Owl product a few months ago. A few points, pricing is aggressive, features are comparable to high end commercial DVR's and tech support is wonderful. After trying a few other brands from here and other retailers I was frustrated trying to get someone on the phone for support. In addition, I almsot always end up needing assistance during off hours, like aftre 6pm or over weekend. It was nice that Night Owl has 24-7 support and is US based. Don't ever see that anymore from a company. Almost all other 24-7 are outsourced to India or Asia. So, I called on a Saturday afternoon and spoke to Joe (probably from Ohio), anyway this guy cut my setup time on the network configuration in half. He actually logged on to the PC I was working on and configured the router himself. This freed up my time to continue to lay cable. All in all the experience was wonderful and customer was very pleased.
