 X-Wind High Performance CPU Cooler
As computer processors become more and more powerful, they typically generate more heat. Accordingly, air cooling solutions for processors tend to be large, heavy and loud. Ultra's X-Wind CPU coolers offer a balance of performance and price without being excessively loud or cumbersome. Because the X-Wind has several fins (as many as 120!), there is more surface area than a typical machined heatsink, so heat is effectively pulled away from the CPU and quickly dissipated. X-Wind's design allows for the use of a larger, quieter fan to push air in between the many fins. I like this fan, but it won't work with every motherboard. I had to cut the fins a bit to get it to fit on an EVGA board, and when I tried it on an ASUS board, it wouldn't fit at all. Fortunately I still had the fan that came with the CPU and it seems to be doing a fine job.
So need to do some real measuring before committing to keeping the fan. |

I'm using this on a Asus P5GC-MX 1333 Motherboard cooling a pentium dc 2.2 ghz chip. this fan will do what you need if it fits. mabey 1-3 mm between the fan and my ram and makes a strech for a few cables. Very quite for its monster size. would recomend this only if space is not a problem |

I was building a new PC and they sold me this CPU fan along with a XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Socket 775 Motherboard and Ultra XBlaster Mid-Tower Case. The fan wouldn't fit into the case without modification; it was blocked by the power supply on top, the nForce fan on the bottom, and some hard-plastic heat-spreaders on the left. I had to take wire cutters and clip off about 20 of the copper spreaders, which, of course, voided the warranty. Oh well! Other than that, it seems like a good product. Just make sure it will fit in your case. |
