Know what you are buying...

It works well, is fairly quiet and is a nice unit... However. It must vent the heat outside to work effectively, it will not work as efficiently as a window unit, and a window unit will be less expensive... So, while this is good, know why you want this vs. a window unit or you will not be happy...

Well Made Great Price AC Unit

From the remote that came with it to the construction of the window mounted exhaust parts I am very happy with the quality of this unit. I am using mine in a 16 shed I bought for my hobby shop and you can imagine how hot it gets. In 30 minutes I can work in my shed and after 60 It is like being in my air conditioned house. Remember you must exhaust the heat, AC is not magic the heat must go somewhere, also the machine try's to use the water it pulls outbox the air but you will need to add water to the unit on hot days and every couple of days will have to drain a quart of water using the cup and hose they supply. This is what a stand alone unit is supposed to do unless you are spending over $500 and those units generally will evaporate the water for you. Well made packed smart too. Very happy!

DOESN'T work freestand: MUSTuse window attachment

The primary reason we purchased this is because we thought it would work as a free standing unit (not needing to be attached to a window). It functions in the freestanding mode, but not effectively. It blows ice cold air out the front and hot air out the back which doesn't make for a very cold room. This unit only works effectively if you use the hose attachment to blow the warm air out the window.

First impressions

Package arrived quickly and in good condition. Unpacking and setup was simple and quick start guide was a plus. Unit was well protected in packaging and it is a very impressive looking appliance out of the box. Many nice features including remote control, oscillating fan, sleep timer, econo mode and more. Window venting kit works great and fit the gynormous vintage window in my daughters' apt just fine. Well pleased so far, no other units at this price point could compete. Cannot attest to the reliability but it appears to be well made, it's very heavy.
