Good Professional Grade Laptop

I got one of these awhile back. It came with formated HD and Windows 7. Don't know why these are coming out with XP. Mine had a dead battery. The supplier sent a good heavy duty one no questions asked. I would say these are good. If you get a lemon, just do your follow up and they will get you one that works.

Pass on this offer

Thinkpads are great computers and sub-$300 is a great price, but pass on this deal. Mine came with adhesive plastic decals stuck to the keys on the keyboard to cover up wear from the prior owner. The decals were not put on straight and their edges curled. Had to buy a new keyboard on EBay to make the computer usable.

Good value

I needed a second laptop and wanted to stay with XP as all(4) my computers are on this version of windows. This unit has run all the programs that I needed to use and has shown to be as fast as I expected. So far I have seen no negatives.

My first laptop. I was not sure if I would like it, but it is great. Excellent price. Looks great. Meets my needs.

There wasn't much information available for the exact item I purchased so I rolled the dice in hoping that I didn't get the bare bones version of the Thinkpad T400. I was burned but I still love the PC. The pictures showed a webcam and a fingerprint scanning tool for security. Neither were on the model I received (T400 6475). The SPECIFIC model number I received isn't listed in the documentation (BQ8) on Lenovo's website (or the web anywhere) so There's a bunch of guessing involved. Lastly, Bluetooth isn't working because it shipped with XP SP3, which needs lots of tweaks to get Bluetooth working. I should've done more homework but as far as being a latop goes, I can't argue with the price point or the features I did get.

Keep data backed up! Be careful with the USB jacks

I serviced these units for 2 years for a large company. Towards the end of their 3 year life span we saw a large number of hard drive failures. Additionally the USB jacks on the side were very prone to breaking more so than other Thinkpad models. It's not the end of the world if these do break, just make sure the exposed pins are not touching anything otherwise the laptop will not start. There may be better buys for $300

I have several laptops that I use for mobile DJ and an internet radio station. The lenovo blows all the others away. It works better than more expensive models with my DJ Software.
