Shutter is very slow, not for professional shooter

I bought a Nikon this time thinking I would have richer colors and better shutter speeds then Canon. Nope. It takes nice photos but this camera is for amateurs, not professionals needing more features for what is spent. Back to Canon next time I buy a new camera. I kept this one as it will compliment my other camera as it takes nicer videos so nice if Nikon works on their shutter speeds which are way too slow. Also the flash does not go off with the sport function under scene mode. Have to do that manually.

Good Camera for a newbie in using DLSR Camera

I am previously using a different brand and the outcome of the pics is not as great compared to the other brand.

Starter Camera

I just recently got into photography. This is a great camera to start off with. It's very easy to use and you can always upgrade the camera by changing the lens.

Super Camera and Lenses

In the past I had a SLR film camera. Digital came out, so I went with a basic camera. Then I bought a better zoom Nikon. Great, but no ability to interchange lenses. Now I have this D5100 with two zoom lenses and it takes pics that I used to get with the SLR. Works great with a lot of on-board helps. I love the photos. This company is always super in their sales.

Good camera

Only had this a few weeks and still learning how to use it. It has a lot more capabilties than I thought. Had to go and buy a book on it at B&N to help out. the manual is ok but there were things I didn't know about digital cameras and other book are filling in things i didn't know. I would say this is the best camera I have ever owned.

Superb

I shoot thousands of images and dozens of video interviews a month covering fishing tournaments and events. This camera ROCKS. I can seamlessly go from video to stills NS Bck to video, the camera accepts wireless microphones, and the video and image quality is excellent. Great camera for my work, and doesn't break the bank in the process.

Worth the wait!!

Use to shoot film with an old Canon AE-1 30 yrs ago and gave up on 35mm SLR after that. Last 25 years has been spent looking for a camera that was worth the wait and this one knocked my socks off! It is as simple as point and shoot or as complex as you ned it to be. I actually like the manual zoom and the switch to for manual focus is well within easy reach. Best of all the camera has so much intelligence that it makes learning easy. Spend some time going thru the manual and take tons of practice shots. That's the only way to learn all that this camera offers
