Good Product, but check your slots

I purchased this card in anticipation of a new computer delivery that I knew had no Firewire ports. Unfortunately, the new computer's only available PCI slot was a PCI Express slot rather than a full-sized one. This puppy wouldn't fit. My bad, not the product's.

Needed to get update for Win7 but worked fine

I rebuilt an old box for my nephew and got this as a cheap add on so he could connect some of his stuff. Win 7 identified the card but couldn't load drivers, took me about 5 or 10 minutes to find and download them. From there it worked fine, I tested it with one external hard drive and a camera and both worked fine (the HD throughput was at least twice as fast as when I used the USB connection). He hasn't run into any issues with it since then (Christmas 2011 present). I'd recommend it.

Fail card

Even though it was supposed to fit in my PCI slot it did not. Waste of money. Fail of card. Snapped it in half I was so angry

Works great!

This card installed easily without drivers needed (XP system) and simply works great! My Firewire devices had no problems with this card. Thanks for an inexpensive product that works exactly as advertised!

Dead In Box

What a disappointment! The card was so dead that it actually hung my brand new machine and prevented it from booting! I expect that I will try to RMA it, but it's likely that the shipping costs will outweigh the cost of a new card. There's bound to be a dropout or two in any production run, and based on the other reviews, that's likely what happened here. Still, quite a letdown.

Couldn't ever get it to work

Bought this to replace a card that I was removing that had a firewire port built in. It came with no drivers CD, the manual states that drivers should install automatically, which they did not, and there seems to be no way of downloading them. This product failed to work. Period.

No problems

Windows 7 didn't automatically download the driver and I can't remember for sure but I think the literature that came with it lead me to find the right driver. Even if it didn't I remember that it wasn't too much of a hassle. I will definitely buy this for another computer in the future if I need it. I'm using it to record audio through a presonus firepod (which is the old model replaced by the firestudio). I'm not sure what kind of features other firewire cards have but it does exactly what I needed it for and it even comes with a male header so it can be connected to the front panel of most pcs. ASUS CG1330

Get the right driver

Didn't work at first in new win 7. Found that the legacy driver works just fine. I wanted the card because it had a pin header on it so I could connect it to the front pannel input.

Great Deal

Was able to install with no problem and successfully upload all my deployment videos from my camcorder to computer with no issues.

Reasonable product

The product seems to be functioning OK but its hard to know for sure since the camcorder that I bought it to use with seems to have driver issues
