Decent for the money, RMA is bogus

I have several of these, they perform decent for the money but the batteries give up near the end of the 3 year warranty. They will replace these units but only if you use a credit card and advanced RMA. Warranty is basically worthless for those of us without a credit card. Hard nosed about it as well, will NOT work with you, only tell you to get a credit card of some type. Beg, borrow or steal one basically. This is a deal breaker for me and I won't be buying another Ultra product.

UPS Good value - optomistic performance

This is a very nice UPS, nice voltage display, nice design, worked right away, no problem. The only thing that I noticed is the rating, under rate this about 30%. Compared to other well known UPS units, the overall weight is less, which makes me wonder about real power. I will buy more of these, considering rating.

Not compatible with newer server

I had purchased my first Ultra few years back and it work pretty good. Just recently it failed and I replaced it with another Ultra. When running a test I found out that this UPS does not support my newer HP ML350 server. The simulated sine wave for electrical power is not enough for the newer server. I will replace it with an APC UPS that produces actual Sine Wave electricity.

All UPS technology seems to be a little flaky

I have had serveral UPS units from APC and Ultra over the years. At one time or another they have all failed. I just had this unit replaced. I did register in the 1st 30 days and Ultra did replace it almost 3 years later. I also have an APC UPS that just failed which was a trade-in from another APC UPS that failed. For the money you pay for a UPS ($200-$300) you would think the electronics would be more reliable.

Excellent work horse

Bought the first 6 years ago and have picked up 2 more since then. They are all still running. Replacing batteries is not exactly easy but doable. The included software had an antiquated UI and was a bit awkward (at least the last time I looked at it). The big pluses: good battery life and overall good value.

Pick another UPS

Bought in mid 2010, lasted until early 2012. Since I forgot to register the product with Ultra within 30 days of purchase, I only got a 1 year warranty so I am stuck buying another. If the product is not good enough to give a 3 year warranty right off the bat, that tells you everything you need to know about the manufacturer. Ill never buy Ultra again.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS UPS

We ordered one of these UPS. When we took it out of the box and plugged it in it immediatley got very hot and smelled as if something was burning. This UPS was exchanged for a new one and guess what...we took it out of the box and it blew a fuse after plugging it in. Now it will not power on. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with defective products and order something else!

Six years flawless performance!!

I've been using this model now since 2006, put batteries in it once, and zero problems so far. I have two other UPS AVR units and this Ultra is used to protect two large (expensive) monitors along with some USB hubs etc. In 2011 lightening hit the next door neighbors yard and nothing in my LAN suffered damage. I was using those monitors at that moment! This Ultra is a keeper for me. Its proved itself in blackouts as well. Works great!

2000 is Better than 1000

I have the 1000 also, and it has been solid for 18 months now. Now the 2000, which is really 1,200 watts, is in the stable in my home office. It also backs-up all the entertainment center devices. I've added 6 gauge copper power leads and have both running on external 55AH batteries to extend those short full load backup times from 7 minutes to almost 35 minutes. Not APC but the cost to value ratio is very high.

I received the unit very quickly and it arrived in good shape. Installation was simple and it is performing as expected.
