My daughter loves it for med school

I was thinking of getting one but what would be an alternative choice that overcomes the wifi issues?

Awesome Machine

Has no problems running Linux Mint 14. I can get about 5-6 hours of battery life with the lowest screen brightness and moderate web browsing. I'm also not experiencing any of the wifi issues that others are complaining about. They only gripe I have is that the touchpad is rather sensitive, so sometimes it's tough to type or click on something.

Sexy Styling, WIFI terrible Overall moderate

OK I got sucked in by the looks. LOVE the styling, and the backlit keyboard. Also very rugged. CONS only TWO USB ports and an almost non functional WIFI. This laptop DOES have its limitations, and if you dont need more than 2 USB's and WIFI then it is indeed a sexy laptop with some good features. I personally upgraded the memory to 8Gig, voiding my warantee. Maybe I will replace the broadcom POS wifi card with an Intel. But wifi is not that important. Other laptops pick up netwaoks from afar, this one ya must stand over the router to receive the signal. Shame. Love the SSD, hate the fact no disc drive. Cants have everything. Overall a SLIGHTLY better than average laptop with workarounds.

Stable Product

-Passed tactical vibration test for 9 Hours on bumpy Amtrak ride without failing. The only con was the screen lid keeps vibrating and needs adjusting. Also it is missing the Intel anti-theft subsystems.

This is the kind of product that you can take one look at, use once, and know to be a quality-built machine. 17 sec to desktop. rigid construction. everything works well.

Phenomenal product

Yeah, it's pricey, but for me (and for many others, I suspect) it really is that good and well worth it. I don't think there's much for me to say here to change your mind; you're either someone who's going to love it, and you probably already know that, or you're someone who it doesn't quite work for, and you probably already know that. For me, being that extra amount thinner and lighter than any other laptop is a big selling point. At least as much, the gorgeous design is right up my ally; no other laptop is nearly as beautiful in my opinion. The screen is stunning and works great outside in the sun (although of course the battery drains faster with the brightness all the way up). The build quality is superb. It's such a pleasure to use this machine. I've got linux working great on it and am very impressed by the performance and battery life. Worth every penny.

No PC laptop is worth more money than a Mac laptop

How can anyone reconcile spending $1300 for a PC laptop, when for less money you can have a far superior Mac that will not only out-perform any PC laptop, but will also last longer, can be up-graded easier, and most viruses that render PCs useless bounce off a Mac like water rolls off a duck's back?
