Look under the hood

I did allot of searching an comparing before I decided to settle on this laptop. Ive had it for about a week and so far im really enjoying it. It looks and feels fantastic, not to mention loads windows extraordinarily fast and blazes through heavy CPU usage with ease. Ofcourse as with any reviews, it needs to be balanced. The first thing that could have been better is the touchpad, its very sensitive and just a slightly off que. But its a problem that will be fixed with drivers. The biggest problem and what everyone should check for is that the Radeon HD card actually works. What I mean is that mine never kicked in no matter what software I used. The issue is hardware related however it is possible to fix it yourself if you play around with the drivers. So check in-store to ensure the Radeon card kicks in on demand if not update the drivers and test it using 3dMark06; your score should be around 10k.

Beast machine, some quality control issues

I am extremely impressed with this machine; it has everything that I need, at an outstanding value. The i7 and Radeon graphics make intensive tasks extremely quick, and all with battery life that I've experienced at around 5-6 hours. The feel of the notebook is also great. However, the first unit I received was faulty, and I got 12 blue screens in the first 2 days. Sent it back, and due to their GREAT support, had a new one 4 days later. This unit is working as it should, with no problems. I have had no issues with the trackpad or wireless(both are verygood, actually), but this new unit does have that sharp edge on the palmrest, where as the first unit didn't. Great machine, but the quality control can be a little iffy for now. Good thing Samsung and this company have great support! Definitely recommend this laptop to everyone; at this price point, it simply can't be beat.

I like the touchpad

The touchpad works quite well once the driver updates are installed. Multitouch gestures are a big time saver but are slightly different than shown in the manual, you need to play around with it. The matte screen has no worse a viewing angle than my glossy Dell. I don't find the palm rest sharp which some have complained about. Had no issues with streaming video either once all codecs were installed. The Intel WiDi is great and works flawlessly with the D Link receiver. A couple of things were not perfect, got a BSOD when using my iPhone in USB mode. Also a Logitech M310 would not work at all (does on other machines, nothing wrong with it). Overall excellent quality and pleased with the purchase.

Good and bad

I guess I was expecting too much out of this laptop. The overall design was flawless, had no trouble with the wireless and mouse. The only problem I had with the laptop was the matte screen display and the resolution. If there were a glossy screen display and 1920x1080 display, it wouldve been the perfect laptop for me. But apparently it didn't, I decided to return it.

Fast laptop, very pleased overall

I'm very pleased with this laptop - I'll be upfront, the only negative (thus 4 stars on quality) is the fact that the base of the laptop is (high quality) plastic and yes,as some have mentioned there is a lip around the palm rest that is ever so slightly rough, really not a big deal. This laptop is blazing fast - esp. with an SSD instead of the hard drive, screen quality is decent albeit a bit low on contrast, keyboard is great, touchpad with software update is good, wireless works very well, the weight at 5lbs is perfect. It's definitely worthwhile!
