Not wanting to be a beta tester for windows 8 this was a perfect laptop to replace my aging Gateway which lost it's license and is being held hostage by Microsoft who wants money to correct their software flaw.

Excellent Purchase

The ASUS Laptop ran perfectly well for quite some time, no problems. Installed an extra 4GB stick easily, bumped it up to 8GB. If you run the machine on HighPerformance and it needs to charge up at the same time, expect some heating issues. Recommend a cooling pad. Otherwise this laptop has been a model citizen thus far, purchased last year October.

crashes, stalls, glitches

Laptop will freeze up when watching youtube, netflix, movies on the computer or DVD. Don't plan on any online gaming, and the mouse is super sensitive without the option to turn off the tap to click feature. Product will also exit out of a screen and go to the desktop at its own will. Don't make the same mistake i did

Fantastic Laptop

This is my first laptop that I purchased for myself. I am an avid gamer and needed something that would at least allow me to play my Steam games. I did upgrade the RAM to 8GB, but have had zero problems. Everything looks great and when I hook it up to a large screen tv via HDMI I'm in heaven. You can spend more money on a better laptop, but for those looking for the most bang for your buck, I don't see anything close.

We have a 'family' of Asus laptops

I recently purchased 2 of these for my grandchildren - on their father's recommendation. I also picked up the 17'' version for myself. Last year dad and grandpa both bought this laptop and highly recommend it.

Great budget i7 laptop

By its price ($599) at this time, it's great deal and great product with quality. 4G RAM is a weakness, but expandable to 8G is an optional to go when feel performance issue in future. As all tablet configured with only i5 now, this one with i7 and dedicated display memory should be good for next few years for normal family use. Do feel hot after half hour of use, not too hot, it's normal. The performance is OK, normal use almost same as my i5 laptop with shared display memory card, but do see big improvement when watch HD camera video!

Good buy

Value: Pretty good price for the hardware. Features: It comes with an Asus widget that controls battery and CPU usage. Pretty useful. Bundled softwares are not bad at all. Quality: The surface of the laptop keyboard stays very cool and seems like good material. Performance: I keep it on office mode most of the time and its been working out well so far. Stays cool even though I leave it on pretty much all day. Quick to boot up. Had some 5-sec freezes with multiple windows and browser tabs but I don't think that would be an issue if you switch to max performance.

Has a little bit of everything

I bought this as a spare laptop at work. Needless to say, this laptop offers a little bit of everything you would look for in a laptop. I was debating between this and a comparable and better spec Lenovo but the Lenovo was an i5 and I can always upgrade the HD and RAM later down the line on on an i7 Asus. I haven't done a whole lot other than migrating some data from my active laptop over and get some of the older apps to install on Win 7 64 bits OS. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Very good laptop for the price

I choose this one for the features (i7 processor, 8GB capacity, good size HD), and was not disappointed. Only issue I had was losing the wireless during a windows upgrade but corrected the problem.

Great Laptop

I am very satisfied with my purchase. It has been a great laptop for the price. Runs quiet and cool with more than enough speed for me. I may buy another 4GB of RAM since it is inexpensive, but right now I don't have to as this handles everything I have used it for. I love this maching.
