A good value for its cost.
I am a little surprised at the other reviewers' complaints. You get what you pay for. Truthfully a little more than you paid for. Eight cameras and a 1-T DVR that works easily, straight out of the box for the price of two good cameras. You want great 600 line color-correct cameras? Then pay $200 bucks a piece for them, later. Because you can hook them straight into this when you get them. Grow into it, as it were. You are up and operational NOW. Right away. So much for the praise, now the problem: I also am unable to get it past the firewall. I don't know whether that is the problem of the DC8810 or AT&T's modem, or just my lack of firewall experience. It does connect easily, and well, inside the network.

Cheap Stuff
This is cheap stuff so not looking for quality. We have trouble to get it online so we can watch it from different location but after purchase service people don't know how to help us so just saying read 'User Maual'. We tried to contact the service provider but there is no phone service avaialble. God knows where this one is located? All in all, we put it together and it works but can't get it online and there is no help aparently so we have to dispose it then buying a better quality brand. Wasting time & $$$.

Great system for the money
First Alert has come up with a very easy 8 camera system. I still haven't hooked it up to the internet for remote viewing, but setting up the cameras and the DVR were easier than a surround sound amp system. As many reviews have stated, the picture isn't the best and colors are off, but very clear and I'm able to look at several views around my house. The closer the cameras are to the subject, fantastic picture. The price can't be beat for 8 cameras and a DVR together. I've been looking at systems for nearly five years and waited for the perfect opportunity - this was it.

Having fun
I'm having fun keeping an eye on my yard. I can even watch the birds at the feeders. And it shows me when my neighbors from HECK are up to no good. I know nothing about electronics and had no problems with the hookups. I would recommend doing a web search for more detailed instructions n info on the system. I formatted and erased all my recordings when I was trying to transfer my data to a disc. I also added a microphone to one of the cameras and it works great! It took me awhile to make a decision to buy and I am happy with this system.

OK System
Easy setup, long cables, middling cameras, records D1 only on 2 of the channels. At $349 I can't complain.

poor product because of camera quality
clarity of the picture during the day is lucky to be 30 ft. The night vision advertised as 50 ft. your lucky to get 20. The dvr was easy to set up and work but only the first 2 cameras allow high quality recording. I kept the system because of the poor return policy. (restocking fee and their choice of a refund or credit) So I will just replace the long range outdoor cameras with better quality ones from another source. The cameras that come with the system are only good for indoor use with short distances.

For a home system, its just o.k.
I deal with high tech surveillance every day at work. This system is obviously not high tech, but for a home version it is not to bad. the cameras range is fair, the color is terrible and the clarity is just o.k.. It is a good enough system to keep an eye on your property, and thats about it.

Cameras are a disappointment
I am disappointed with the cameras are the fuzziness in which the picture comes out. This would be a good product if the cameras were better.

Great system for the price
This is not meant to be a super hi-end system, but I'm impressed with the quality of the image from these cameras. I live on a small lake and during the day, I can see clearly across to the other side. Installs and sets very easy, depending on your cable path. It is difficult to run cables through the actic, but that has nothing to do with the system. The night vision is fine, just don't expect military grade. Great system for the home or small biz.
