poor instructions and junk

This is the most disappointing purchase I have made in the past couple years. The instructions were worthless. They said if I had any problems just call them. There was no number or e-mail address anywhere in the instructions. I found a manual on line and got the system set up. I would not recomend this system to anyone.

Good tech support-easy 2 setup

All of the cameras worked the second we plugged them in. It took a bit to get the pic right side up in some places. The color is off-sort of a green tinge, but U can tell who's being videoed. Have sneak thief in family. One camera is in back of large storage cabinet-can't be seen, very dark, but it captures the front door about 25 ft away. Will replace that with quality dome camera, it's good enough to take to police to get restraining and trespass order. I have xtra electricity in me-I make blue sparks and DVR flipped to Chinese and funny screen-not an unusual thing for me. Tech stayed online for 2 hours finding Chinese manual and collating it with English- I will be buying more First Alert products. I'm thinking that I should wear rubber gloves when near the DVR.

Pretty Decent for the Money you Spend

The software is a little slow when you are doing certain things like looking up past days or hours for review. But other than that it works just like the specs said it all should, decent enough. Nothing special in this deal other than the price and the 8 channel box. Cameras are decent.

Good starter kit

Excellent starter kit for home. Price is good for quality and get the jod done!

Not Great!

The night vision is horrible maybe 15ft at best. I found the wide angle not to be up to par. The color was of by far, well at least the trees and grass were off. I would look for something better!

Pretty good system

This system is a pretty good system. Maybe not the best but for the price, it is hard to beat. Easy to set up and good but not great pictures.

Basic use only

Basically, if you need to do anything that requires a network cable, you going to hate this unit. Too many firmware shortcomings to list here. Had begun the process of returning it, decided to persevere and I regret it. Picture colors are off, but hey that's IR for ya. It's discontinued, so there will be no firmware update to make this better. Just OK for basic stuff.

You get what you pay for Maybe?

I always thought First Alert was top of the line. Not any more. Their plastic cameras poor quility. Night vision was not good. The cameras sometimes at night would not record me. Daytime color bad. Grass purple or white. When I hooked my system up the time and date already set. It makes me think it was used. But sold as new. When I called support First Alert they couldn't help me. They said there tech would get back to me in 48 hours. I sent it back.

not happy

everything works ok but 1 of 4 cameras doesnt work after 12 hours working when i came to my store video loss

great product

I've had this for about a month now. totally satisfied, easy to set up, easy to pinpoint situations that need to be looked at on video, night vision is crazy good up to the 40ft, will buy another one for my other office.
