do not buy it
mine it crashig, i have to hardware restart every week, if u forgot no record, very frustrading

Simple and easy
For the most part this is easy to setup, but there are few bugs in this setup, like the time and recording issues, none that would cause me to give a lower rating, its works and for the price its worth it

Be sure of your needs, before you purchase
Don't try to be cheap, trust me your not saving money, know your needs. This is a great starter set, but doesn't have a hard drive. I'm going to purchase a hard drive for it and put it on my mothers home, and im going to upgrade. I totally love it, but i want the 8 camera with motion. The product is great and i totally recommend them, but know what you needs, or you'll double spend.

Picture not all that great
Still for the money it isn't bad. You can definitely make out faces. The color isn't very good.... would almost be better in black and white.

Works well
The product arrived very quickly and the rebate came through too. I can't seem to get my USB mouse to work with it although the USB mouse it came with works fine.

lets be fair
Apparently my first review was rejected. Cameras are literally garbage at night. Motion detection is sporadic at best. Set to 3 and they record all the time, on 2 people can walk right through the cameras field of vision without detection. NO middle ground. Would make a great gift for someone that doesn't need a security system.

Great Starter System
This is a great starter surveillance system. It comes with everything you need to start recording video (except the hard-drive as stated). The picture quality is sufficient for close range, but long range recording may need higher quality cameras. It is impossible to make out faces at greater than about 20 feet.

Poor camera guality
The cameras that came with the system are 400 TV lines, at night they are very hard to see anything clearly. The DVR skips recordings, the system did not pick up persons coming or go from it line of sight, no recordings of these events at all. Returning the system for another one with better cameras and DVR.
