Advanced Format Drive

Never thought a hard drive could be so troublesome. After using dell recovery discs to restore windows vista on a laptop it kept giving me errors after logging in. I tried WD Align, tried installing hotfix KB2470478, and tried installing a new Intel rapid storage technology driver but none worked. After that I removed the drive and swapped it for one without advanced format and presto everything worked. I wish TigerDirect would have warned me that its a Advanced format drive and that there were more warnings in general about these drives. WD Caviar Blues (mobile) with PRT in the model are advanced format drives unfortunately tiger direct didn't have any non-advanced formats in stock. Drive overall is good though but probably won't work for you if the image you use comes from a non advanced format drive.

pulled drive from a acer aspire after less then a year. Acer wants the drive sent to them before honoring a replacement (no data recovery option), WD says no warranty since it came from acer but they can recommend data recovery companies listed on their website who charge 500-1000 dollars and give free diagnostic.

PS3 Upgrade

I originally wanted to buy the Seagate Momentus, but it is only available online, and I prefer to actually get my hands on something in the store before I buy, when possible. This was the next best option. I've had this drive in my PS3 for a few weeks now (replaced my old 80GB) and it works like a charm. Provides tons of space so I don't need to stream from my media server anymore. Works great so far!

What a pain

When I got home and tried to upgrade my laptop Hard Drive with this one. It wouldn't boot up at all. Since I'm not home every day and when I did return Home the WD Company was awesome enough to replace it for me. But of course it still has the same problem; which it doesn't boot up at all. I guess I will throw it in a external case and use it as a storage Hard Drive. This is not the reason why I bought this for but I guess I'm stuck with it. Oh well not the best result I have had with an item from here.

Great for upgrading PS3 Hard Drive!

I was looking to upgrade my originally 80GB Playstation 3 hard drive (I was tired of running out of disc space and having to delete or re-install games when I wanted to play them). After researching for weeks, I decided to go with this hard drive based on the great price, product warranty, and of course the substantial increase in disc space I will have available on my Playstation 3. No problems with the installation in the console or with re-booting the software. Everything works perfect and flawlessly thus far. I love never having to delete game data or worrying about disc space when installing a new game. Would highly recommend this hard drive to those that are planning on upgrading their Playstation 3 hard drive.

Worked perfectly in Sony Vaio

Acquired a used Sony Vaio that had the hard drive removed by previous owner for security reasons. Bought this drive and loaded Linux Mint 12 (Free; Windows costs too much), and it runs really fast....hard drive is fast, too. Effortless installation, would buy it again in a heartbeat. The site shipped faster than they promised!!
