Expand The Range Of Your Wireless Network!
Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander V2.0
Expand the range of your wireless network! The Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander is the easy way to increase the effective coverage of your wireless network.
Unlike adding a traditional access point to your network to expand wireless coverage, the Wireless-G Range Expander does not need to be connected to the network by a data cable. Just put it within range of your main access point or wireless router, and it "bounces" the signals out to remote wireless devices.
This "relay station" or "repeater" approach saves wiring costs and helps to build wireless infrastructure by driving signals into even those distant, reflective corners and hard-to-reach areas where wireless coverage is spotty and cabling is impractical. The Range Expander is perfect to help cover large areas in multi-story homes, warehouse environments, public spaces, wireless "Hot Spots", and outdoor venues -- anywhere you need extra coverage for your wireless network.
The Wireless-G Range Expander is compatible with the Linksys WAP54G Access Point, and both the WRT54G and WRT54GS Wireless Routers. It works with both Wireless-G and Wireless-B clients so you'll get the benefits of increased coverage, even with a mixed network.

I ordered this wireless expander from LinkSys because I had a LinkSys router and wanted ease of installation and compatability. After an hour of trying to get through the installation steps, without success, I called tech support. I could not understand the first tech rep and she finally transferred me to another rep that I could understand. After 3 hours of hit and miss stuff the range expander finally began working. The problem, all along, was my router is set up unsecured; however, to gain access to my wireless network I must enter the MAC address of the computer needing access into the MAC address filter. The tech reps, undoubtedly, don't work on this type set up often and after repeated attempts to make the tech rep understand my setup, she had me put the MAC address of the range expander in the MAC address filter and it hooked up immediately. No problem since then.

I purchased this product thinking it would be the end all to my wireless headaches and I found out very quickly it wasn't worth what I paid for it. I managed to get this thing working after two hours messing around with the settings only to have it lose connection to my 2WIRE router 30 minutes later.
The product doesn't tell you in bold lettering that it's actual transmission rate is 50% lower than it's recieve rate so if you put this thing in your living room and close your door in your bedroom where you PC is the connection is pretty much gone.
Don't waste your time or money on this thing. It's a complete piece of junk.

I received myLinksys extender yesterday (about $80 ppd) and found out that I had to install software, first. Then I found out that I had to try to configure it to my router, which is a 2WIRE router. Nothing in any ad or material says you have to have a Linsys router to make this work properly out of the box. I spent 3.5 hours, six phone calls (kept getting cut off or sent to and endless loop of pre-recording), deftly avoiding an additional $70 fee from a separate tele-tech service company, and a lot of panic when my laptop stopped receiving any signal from any router, and a lot of saying, ''Can you speak more slowly and clearly?'' and confirming info.--name, address, phone number--AND a $9.95 charge for the help, but I finally got it to work. Amount of extended signal beyond previous limit--aboutg 25 feet. This product is a rip-off.

This product works great with my 2wire router. I had to call support to get past security issues, but they fixed it in less than 15 minutes! I now have wireless everywhere. Thanks!
