Awesome Router

Easy to set-up, easy to manage, solid performance with-out the worry dropped VPN tunnels. For multiple RV082 routers, I would recommend they all be on the same firmware. With over six units deployed, I've only seen one dropped tunnel all due to the local ISP. Very pleased with this unit.

Replacement for RV042

We purchased this unit to replace a RV042. I had 3 RV042 over the past 4 years and they did serve the purpose. However, after a couple year's use, they began to reboot, drop IP, etc. Internet search revealed that this has been an ongoing problem with the 42. The RV082 has a different power supply and board and was not known for these problems, so we upgraded. Unit works very well. Only added feature I would like to see is the ablitly to have two separate LAN's. Unit is installed in a busy hotel for guest use and I quite often run out of IP addresses. Two LANS with two DHCP would solve that problem.

With this hardware you can have to internet conections at the same time. If one fails you can still have internet. and the firewall is great.

Very nice unit. Simple installation with a user friendly interface. I was skeptical of the Linksys brand due to some previous experience with older retail units but this one is far improved from the old. Default firewall settings are rock solid however, if you don't do e-commerce on your LAN you might consider closing the HTTPS port.

When I first bought this router I had a few issues with firmware and such but I have to say after 3 years of uninterrupted service this router can take whatever you can dish out. We use this router in a small business environment of 50 pc's of which I spread the IP's 25 on one line 25 on the other manually and its been running free of issues. Firewall works great! VPN works great! everything functions as intended! This router is more reliable than the $5,000 cisco router it replaced, with less worries less hassle and no programming neccessary. Just keep up with the firmware updates and they add new features all the time! Linksys has done good here.

This is a great VPN router, but the one thing I needed it couldn't do. I need to map external IPs to internal IPs - on different subnets. This will only map external IPs to the main LAN subnet. Not that big a deal if I wanted to reconfigure everything else on my network, but for me, I'm sending it back in favor of a D-Link that does this via the port mapping feature.

A nice, professional load-balancer/firewall/router device. I replaced my highly problematic Hotbrick LB-2 with an RV082, and it instantly cured many of the problems the LB-2 was showing. When configured to give RTP (UDP port 10,000-20,000) packets High priority, VoIP calls were clear, unjittered, and reliable. Data (web/scp) traffic was fast and responsive. Reconfigures are smooth and reliable (unlike my LB-2). I haven't tried hooking up 2nd broadband in dual-WAN configuration, and I've only had it a short while, but so far it's been a pleasure to use. I think it's a pretty good device for the money.
