does the job
bought it for backing up my and my wife's laptops + my desktop - so far it's been working flawlessly. Easy to set up. It does have a bunch of other features I haven't gotten around to exploring yet. Good deal.

So far, so good
Seems to work OK so far. Will see what it's like in a year of auto use.

Works great for home nas and media server
I have 4 Windows 7 computers, a mac, a Wii, 3 DTV receivers, a TV and a DVD player that I use with this. They all found it easily and access it with no problems. I also can access it when I am not at home using DLinks free DDNS service.

Not Mac-Friendly
I bought this to serve as video storage for our macs at my company, and there is no included mac software. You need to use the web interface to set it up, which is tempermental at best. Once I got it set up, the problems didn't stop. The macs connected fine (through smb), but wouldnt stay connected longer than 10 min or so, even when directly working with a file on the network. D-Link lvl 1 tech support had no suggestions, and referred me for a specialist call-back, which he said would occur within 10 min. Over an hour later I hadn't received a call, so I returned the unit.

Disappointing functionality
Bought this to do incremental backups to NAS and the software they supply (Farstone Total Recovery Pro) doesn't work with the NAS connection. Wasted hours with both Farstone China support and D-Link Southeast Asia support to have Farstone blame D-Link and D-Link says they don't support the software they supply. Yay. Trialing Acronis latest version now. I had to upgrade the firmware to make it work with 3TB drives, which then required a reformat. Blech. Don't like the drive insertion... tabs catch on the housing. It does, however, work with Windows Backup and Restore, and with regular Windows Explorer network access. Overall... it's lower quality than I expected for the price and I would have rather spent more on a unit of better quality. For infrequent use it would be better to just buy a toaster or portable HD.

Pretty good
I was drawn to the low price and feature set of the unit. Purchased it along with a 2TB WD Green drive and it was a snap to install. The set up was OK, but it is suppose to be a DLNA unit, but it was not showing up correctly across my DLNA units so ended up using an old Mac laptop to control a media server and point to it. Works like a champ in this set up. I have been able to point my Mac and PC's at it for back up (including Time Machine) without issue. Also store my iTunes music library on it.

Hardware is not bad... Software is lacking
Hardware seems to work, but the software crashed my computer over and over again. We're talking blue screen of death. Had to revert to windows 7 back up system, which isn't all that great.

Well worth the money
I bought one and liked it so much I bought a second one. Both are raid 1. Very easy to set up and use. When I got the first one the fan was noisy. They sent me a new one immediately and then I returned the old one. For the price it is an excellent value.

Pleased with the device
I purchased this to replace an older PATA system. Popped in 2 500gb drives set up the raid and off to the races... Simple, quick and painless. On the network and functioning fine. Good buy.

Not Good Deal After All
I waited about a year to buy a NAS. When I saw this offer I got one. After one month and a half the NAS did not turn on anymore. I talked to costumer service and they told me to return it. The provide me with a case Number which I use to create an RMA online. To send this back it is costing me $20.92 and they told me that I have to pay for it. I am frustrated bacause what it looks to be a good buy it is turning in a expensive buy with poor quality. Costumer service was very helpful and nice. I will keep you posted when I get the new one back.
