Not bad

Pretty good unit, you get what you expect to get for the price. The camera quality is not fantastic but you can get license plates and faces within 50ft. DVR unit does not work well when left in an unheated building in subzero temperatures, it still records but loading is SLOW. I placed a heating pad underneath the unit to keep the temperature up and works better. Things I dont like - at night when recording the LEDs on the cameras will switch on so the camera is visible. The camera mounts could use one more point of articulation to give more options for mounting. Autofocus can pick up screens on windows and stay on that indefinitely. And you can not have the unit on motion sensor and have it on a schedule (as far as I can tell). Set up is super easy and on cables longer than 100ft you do NOT get signal degradation.

Not what i was hoping for

The cameras that this kit comes with are bad... my 6 year old cell phone has better camera! All the colors are off video looks fuzzy static you could barely tell a face and so on.. I would not recommend this the 4 cameras it comes with is almost like a pre 1999 quality I returned mine for a refund.

This is a great system!

I have cameras on my front porch, side of the house between me and my neighbor, on my shed out back, and pointing at my car & van. The video quality is perfect for a security camera. I don't need hd movie quality for security, just to be able to identify a face. My side camera is 60 feet from my front fence and I can see well enough to count the roses on my bush. The playback. search,and other dvr settings are awesome and finding a particular time on the video is VERY easy! The only reason i deducted a star is because getting the system connected to a router for internet transmission is a nightmare, not user friendly. I would definitely recommend this system, even if you need help getting your internet connected.

Best Deal I could find anywhere on a 4 cam suv sys

I searched high and low through every retailer I could find. Ended up purchasing this system because it was at least $40 dollars cheaper than anything similar to it that I could find anywhere else. Package arrived very fast, the system was very easy set up. If you've hooked up a DVD player or VCR before then you can set this system up yourself. Plenty of options in the DVR menu for adjusting features such as alarms, and motion detection, camera color settings and record functions. For setting up remote access I didn't even bother trying myself. I called Night Owl's Customer service, granted him remote access and within 10 minutes I had it set up and can view it on my Iphone and online from any computer when I go on vacation. For the price you can't go wrong. If your looking for a low cost Security system you'll be hard pressed to find a better value than this one.

Great system for non-techy person

I know nothing about techy stuff. Setting the system up is easy - 60' of cable comes with each camera which was enough to reach the detached garage! I needed to call my internet provider & my wireless router provider because the directions were out of my comfort zone. Both companies knew exactly what I had to do & told me how to set it up. Then I had to call Night Owl to get the final technical details entered in. Everything works perfect at my computer & I can look anytime on my phone & switch cameras with ease. Wow - Our family has told many people how awesome this camera is!!!!! CONS: I would have liked a little wider view as well, but with 4 cameras - I have everything I need. If using at night, a security light that is on will give the needed light for the system to work well.

Great Device

Great Price, great device. Can log into the device from PC and iPhone without much trouble. I am a geek though so this setup was easy to me. Probably could be a little more user friendly, but I think they have 24h free support. So that's gotta be very user friendly :) CONS: Audio streaming does not work on the iPhone application. PLEASE FIX! Been using for about 1 year now and this is the 2nd one I bought. Highly recommend.

Good deal on surviellance

Unlike some of the other users, I found the quality of the video to be more than acceptable and the night vision is adequate. Set up was easy, networking was a breeze (for an IT guy). The user interface is OK, the browser access is a great bonus. Buyers should expect to spend a bit of time tweaking the settings to get the desired quality of video they need. Overall this product is well worth the price.

Don't expect bells and whistles

I got this because our house had a couple incidents of vandalism recently. PROS: This is a good system for a basic security setup. It's a good price for what you get, which includes 4x 60ft cables for the cameras. The cameras are good, night vision is adequate, and setup is really easy. CONS: Like the other reviews, I've found the file system to be clunky. The cameras don't have a particularly wide field of view either. OTHER: I haven't tried to network this thing, but I'm not interested in that option. Maybe I will play with that later.

Not very good for the price

This system promises high quality digital video,but delivers washed out colors and very fuzzy night video, the user interface is very clumsy, looks like an old dos screen from 20 yrs ago! I would not recommend this for anyone.
