I've had my Optoma DV10 almost a year now and I Love it. It's bright even with nearby ambient light. I run the optical audio into my sound system and it's instant night at the movies. Very Cool! I bought a spare bought bulb just in case, but have yet to need it. |

First the cons (note I give it 5 stars):
(1)Sometimes when I switch from optical audio out back to internal sound I have to power cycle the unit for internal sound to work again. (2) The unit really wants to throw the picture upward. My setup requires me to prop the rear feet up a little bit. (3)The zoom is limited, so you maybe have to move the device forward or backward a little bit for perfect picture centering.
Pros: The whole family loves this thing. I consider it a budget theater setup and only bought it thinking it was also a very flexible portable device I could carry to friends houses, or use on the patio, etc. I had pretty high hopes to use it as a basement home theater also. It has way exceeded those hopes. I use a 6.1 surround sound receiver and the Optoma optical output. The sound is amazing! I also use a samsung HD over the air receiver (still only component video into d-sub vga plug) and the result is excellent. Sporting events are spectacular. |

Excellent Projector for the price, look for the same projector with a free screen here at TigerDirect. Cannot see any way to ceiling mount the projector however, so you will need a platform of some sort to place it on. Burning smell is ''normal'' for all projectors so dont be too worried about it - but make sure the room is ventilated (open a window). |

I purchased this projector to replace my 27'' color tv and what a great decision I made. I am so happy with the over all performance of the Optoma. I had the cable company come and connect the projector to the High Definittion box and I am just so happy with the color that is so vivid from the optoma. I am a novice and was able to change my whole TV viewing experience with your product. Thank You. |

Great Projector. Best Gift. Never seen such a great reaction during christmas! Perfect color and clarity. Even in daylight. We watch it in our bedroom for now. Sometimes the sound doesnt come on, we have to turn it off, unplug it, then plug it back in. Could be how we set it up, but It works every time. Otherwise, really easy to use. great dvd player on top. Good sound. we LOVE it! |

So far I am very happy with the projector. The direct digital output from the dvd to projector works well. clarity, brightness and colors are superb. Normally i'm sensitive to rainbow effect but hardly notice it at all with the dv10, not an issue.
I connected my samsung hdtv receiver to the d-sub input (i guess they use the dvi circuit for the built in dvr)and the picture is as good or better than the dvr. local stations broadcast digital in different formats (720/1080) but the projector handles that with ease. A perfect picture everytime.
I'm not a video expect but I know a great picture when I see one. |

I think this is a great projector. I love the clearity and size of it. I think it could use a little more watts. Once again, I love the whole projector. |

I was a little leary at first when I saw the size of this movie projector but it really kicks out a sharp picture image. The internal speakers have a good crisp sound but could probabily use a few more watts. The ease of connecting external equipment is a big plus. All in all I think that this movie projector is a quality product. |

Used it last night for an outdoor patio DVD show.
The picture was great even on my home made screen. My screen hadn't arrived so I used a sheet of 1/4 inch plywood painted with flat white paint and cut to the size of a 90 inch HDTV screen.
The built in speekers are ok but needed to be at full volume. I pluged in a Sicuro sub woofer, I got from Tiger, and it made the sound better. The sub woofer also needed to be at full volume.
As for operation I have only used it with the built in DVD player and I am very impressed with the ease of that function. Plug it in drop in a DVD and turn it on. It automaticaly finds the DVD and starts playing it.
The instruction manual is typicaly bad, as all Chinese translated manuals seem to be. It takes some re-reading and trying things to start to get the hang of some of the setup and adjustment settings.
As a potable unit it is very cool. With a tripod or pull up 16x9 1:1 portable screen you can take the show anywhere. |
