Works like a charm and tons of storage to boot.

I purchased this drive to replace one that was about to fail. I made the precautionary backup of the failing drive's files, removed it, replaced it with this drive. Restored the backup files and now my system works as though I never had a problem in the first place.

ST3000DM001 rocks!

This is my third drive purchase for my Synology 1512+ NAS. Drives are great, run cool, no issues at all. I'll be buying two more so that there will be five 3TB drives working together!

3 tb hard drive was a good find

other than finding an ssd or flash memory of this size the speed and so far having no lost data or crashes it seems to have all the space you could need. over all the other noises in my computer i have yet to hear any noise coming from this hard drive. lots of space for the money. wished it had more cached memory though for better transfers.

Ordered 2 of these, unfortunately one was faulty. Tiger's return process is really easy, so no harm.

Great drive, so far...

Have been using this particular model drive from Seagate for a few years now. Have not had any problems (knock on wood) with any of about 1.5 dozen used. Wished the manufacturer warranty was longer on this model (at one time it was a 5yr warrantied item), but still a good drive.

Great little drive!

When I first got mine, I plugged it in and formatted it as ext3 (I use Linux) and was disappointed to only find it hitting 2.2 terabyes. I did some research and found out I'd used the wrong tool to partition it with. I installed the correct tool (a quick couple clicks), wiped the partitions I'd messed up, repartitioned it with gdisk and reformatted. 2.8 terabytes storage now! Just goes to show, it works better when you read the instructions!

Works

I bought four of these for my media server to replace four 2tb drives. One of the four sounded like the head was dragging against platter sent that one back for a replacement. (I didn't trust it) So far no problems. I would also give tiger direct 4 stars too, for the no hassle, easy replacement. They sent me the new drive before I sent the old one out without charging me, sent me a bill, but was told not to worry about, it as long as the old drive was sent back. When UPS came we swapped old for new.

This drive works great for what i needed

I needed a data drive to store large video files on my windows 7 64 bit computer. The drive works flawlessly. As mentioned in other reviews to get a full 3TB partition with windows 7, you have to change the partition table to GPT through Disk Management. Great price for this drive.

So Far So Good

I got two of these and am running a Raid0 setup. The six terabytes of storage really helps with my audio and video library as I was running low on storage space. I am using a SSD as my boot drive since I don't have a UEFI mobo and I wanted fast boot times but Win7 has no issues with anything. I'm thinking of upgrading my other system with another pair of these drives.
