As some of the other customers suggested, the laser pointer is not reliable: on average 1 out of 5 tries it doesn't turn on. And when it does, the signal (point) is very small and weak, hardly noticeable. I changed batteries (after 2 weeks that I have this remote), but the same thing happened.
It is probably OK for smaller presentation rooms, i.e. conference rooms in companies. I teach at university, so for the large audiences (150-200 students, 2 of 5 meters (15 ft) projection screens) this is definitely too weak. If I had known this before, I'd go for more expensive but hopefully stronger remote.

DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE! The problem with it is that the buttons are ''soft''. I frequently press them, and nothing happens. Because the buttons don't ''click'' in either touch or sound, I am unsure as to whether or not I've sent a signal, or if there's something wrong with my powerpoint presentation. When you're in front of a group, you want to look like you know what you're doing.
In addition, the laser doesn't work reliably.

The product works. The range is not as far as some but let's face it, most of the time we are standing within some proximity to the computer. It does not have the size of most I have seen but it fits neatly in my hand and the material it is made from does not slip in sweaty hands. You can not load the power point directly to the USB stick so if you are giving a presentation on a University computer etc, you will need to bring your PP in a seperate device, load it to the machine seperately and then use this device to run the show. It does work well and has a good price point if you are willing to accept that you get what you pay for.

I bought this unit three months ago and use it on a weekly basis. It works great. It was so easy to install and feels nice your hand. All the controls you want are right there and well spaced apart. I loaned it to a speaker today and he was very pleased with the unit. The laser pointer dot could be slightly larger but it is sufficient. I haven't become well versed at using the mouse control but it is nice to know it is there if needed as well as a right and left mouse button.

What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use.
