Seagate GoFlex Home 3TB
This product does what it is supposed to, just not what I expected it to do. Good NAS solution for someone inexperienced with network sharing. Permissions, privacy, and pass-wording functions are very rudimentary and not adaptable. Seagate's interface software can be a little flaky as well, especially if you want to do something that it wasn't designed to do.

Did not liked it
I bought this product on sale last week (a 2T), installed it on windows 7 and it worked well for backup. As usual, for this kind of product, the IU is a real CRAPP and the quality pictures I looked pictures from my ipad via my router, they where realy poor (like low quality JPEG). I looked for solutions to correct this problem, but answereds on there web solution page is also CRAPP, and also no language options. So the CRAPP returned to the store and I am waiting for better technology......

Seagate network HD
I've been using the product for about a week now, and I've already filled up half of the capacity. Transfer rates are as expected, but the product is more durable than I expected. I've dropped the device more than a couple times, and it still functions. It is compatible with the dock of my other hard drive, so I can get faster transfer rates than over wifi. The UI over the network is very frustrating, however, and it is difficult to manage and share files. I find it easier to manage them via the other dock, and then attach it to the network

Hard drive failure
The portability of the product is what makes it an attractive buy. However, I had important files backed up to this product and needed to reload windows. Guess what..... The hard drive failed. I checked it just before reloading Windows. I had to bring it in to the data recovery specialists. It will cost $1000-$1600 to retrieve the data. Hard drive failure is a reality. This one failed within a few months. Look elsewhere.

Adequate, but not high performance.
I have the 1Tb version, and it does the job I need. As clunky as the interface is, if you don't have to use it (which I rarely do), you'll get by. I found it on sale, so I scooped one, and also have a Seagate USB 1Tb hooked to the USB port. That works fine. The drives take a while to spin up after they've gone to sleep, and cause programs to not respond on all but my newest PC. On the upside, once it's set up and shared properly, it's pretty transparent to use. My biggest beef is that the server will tell me I've typed the wrong password even when it's the correct one. Type a wrong one, and then the right one again, and it connects fine. More of an issue under XP than under Win7. Also connect via SMB share to my Wii game console to watch movies and TV shows. All in all a good product, I would buy another... just know it has it's quirks.

Great idea
My first one had hard drive problems. The second one is going great. I like that I can share files with other people easily. It streams mpeg files to my Nexus nicely.

Bad software experience in hardware
I wanted to build a dead simple file server with a UNC Name I define. Failed cannot change the name of the device on the network (what happens when you want to have 2 on the same network?) With Guest access Read and Write Local network segment only (no account necessary), Failed, not possible to enable guest access. Named user access (user name and PW) to files that they create and manage. Passed but bad to configure. Bad as the other reviewer stated, Internet access to configure or manage. If you connect to the URL directly and log in it just loops you back to a login prompt. Shame cause it is a nice hardware package with Gig-E and a ton of storage 3TB for the price.

Not user friendly at all
It is very dificult to use. Must have internet connection to install, WHY? I have a 5 PCs home network, only one has Internet connection and protection software($$$). why force me to connect online to install. The software with this drive is not easy to use, even the folder view is very confusing and takes time to find my documents and files. They need to urgently change this software and make it simple show under windows explorer in a simple and clear way.
