Use one at church and own one at home. At church we burn direct from broadcast switcher for editing later. Works Great. Had issues when new but after upgrading firmware, no problems. Have one at home. Used in a Video Production company based in my basement. I have 4 SVHS recorders that I am getting ready to replace with 4 of the Liteon LW-5005's. When on site taping, I go from switcher to burner but I also take each camera to it's own burner as if the camera is live at all times. Great for back up or if you miss a shot somewhere. I love these units. For the money, you can't beat them. |

This unit is a well built unit that can record on all popular recordable media with the exception of double layer and DVD-RAM. It also records on CD-R and CD-RW and can record both MP3 and CD audio discs in addition to VCD and SVCD video discs. The remote is easy to us and simple in design. The unit is also firmware upgradable and can be hacked to provide region free operation as well as Macrovision removal; however, this is illegal and I do not recommend doing this to your unit as it will void your warranty which is one year on both parts and labor; not bad as most others only have 90 days parts and labor. The unit also support 1394 4 pin mini-DV input for those that have camcorders and the unit can also control basic operations from the remote control itself. The unit is solidly constructed and has both SVHS in/out connectors and RCA type in/out connectors as well as a standard F-type RF for recording off-air and cable broadcasts. |

This is a good dvd player and recorder. It is good to know that any setting other than regular record (the 2hr format) will give sub-television quality video. Setting the TV tuner on this DVD player was also very annoying as you have to individually program the tuning of each channel under a setting called ''Fine''. However, once this is set you shouldn't have to ever fix it. It would be nice if they added a volume control that could be programmed for the television. I have yet to record much media yet, but I would definately say that this is a great VCR replacement for the price. |

Dear Sirs,
After a long struggle with this brand new unit LVW-5005. I have to giveup your brand. I spent way too much time trying to make your product work, with many outstanding unresolved issues. It seems to me that your technical support staffs only knows ''upgrade firmware'' or ''restore to default settings''. I suggest your management upgrade the skill set and knowledge of your support staff.
I have requested a RMA from tigerdirect, and give up your brand. I just can not afford the time and money to make your brand new unit works. I suggest the management check on the problem log that I reported on this unit.

Ordered it on Tuesday and arrived Thursday. Never had a poblem with Tigerdirect's delivery! Was considering the Kreisen that is on sales; just didn't have a lot of information about the company; otherwise, that machine is a $100 different with the rebate. Looked at Aspire 8901 too, too many negative comments on the web... First thing I did was downloaded the firmware update. The instruction to burn a CD must be followed religiously to make it work, since the image is not an ISO file. You also need Nero to burn the Disc. Make sure you turn the machine off, then open the disc tray and put the disc in... select source on the remote as ''file'', so that it shows you the blue screen that is shown in the instruction. If you have it on other source, e.g., AV1 or AV2, you will not know when to press ''yes'' or ''cancel''... If you never did a BIOS or firmware update on a computer, ask someone to help you! After that, I burned SVCD (from video) and DVD (from digital box), they come out great!! |

I LOVE THIS DVD RECORDER!!! I have had a few that didn't really work for me... But, this one is AWESOME!!! It does anything you want! I would definatly recommend this!!! |
