Plustek Opticbook 3600 Book Scanner
OpticBook is the most portable and affordable book-scanning solution. The product uses patent-pending SEE (Shadow Elimination Element) Technology that includes a specially designed edge and lamp. This technology allows for “zero edge” scanning which means the scanning module can scan right up to the edge of the scanner where the book spine is placed. The book can therefore be scanned with the pages completely flat on the glass to avoid the annoying book spine shadow and distorted lines of text which occur when the books is scanned on a traditional flatbed scanner.

This is an amazing scanner. Apart from other things I'm digitizing my reference books and this does a great job with test and pictues. Graphics give much better results than from aphoto scanner with better resolution. I don't use the included software or side buttons but have my own Abbyy Finereader and other packages. The driver CD wouldn't load but I made a copy which worked. All worked well, and it didn't need te XP patch, since I had to revert back to get it working again. Highly recommended. |

This is an incredibly well designed and easy-to-use book scanner. You have to turn the pages, but other than that you just press a button once for each page. The software can automatically flip every other scan for you. |

What You Should Know

What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use. |
