Has Errors
Although this is a newer model than my old TomTom One, and it has a few more features than the One, it has performance issues that are not correctable, e.g., the compass display of east and west direction is reversed. Strangely, north and south are correct. Another irritation... The unit does not always calculate or follow the most obvious direct route, e.g., when leaving my home TomTom directs me to go around my neighborhood loop, approx. one quarter mile, to get to the next turn intersection, instead of directing me to turn the other direction from my home, only one house away from the intersection! My TomTom One doesn't have this error. This TomTom will only speak street names when set to use its robotic voice. That voice is difficult to understand. I have reported these issues to TomTom and asked if there is a simple software fix to one or more of these problems. Apparently not, because I never received a response from them.

Good product
Tis XXL540S replaced my Tomtom Ease which was stolen. I drive to different places in Iowa and Illinois everyday for work and so I was dependent on one. This time I was able to use the Tomtom Home application to update the maps and info on the XXL540S.I successuflly found locations in St Louis and Kansas City when I went there.

tomtom xxl-540S Great GPS
This tomtom unit is clearly a great device and is simple to use and works great right out of the box. For the price you can't beat it. Looking for a gps, try this one, you will love how well it works

Great deal
Bought this for 79.97 with coupon. Easy to setup (dl TomTom Home2 from website). When I went to update maps got a message that my lifetime map update had expired. Called TomTom Canada 866-486-6866 and they updated me NP. Good to go!
