Detailed Features
Video playback
The P2 plays MPEG4 and WMV9 video files in 16:9 DVD friendly format. Samsung Multimedia Software included with the P2 transcodes the video on the computer before transferring to the P2, so videos on the P2 play at the optimal frame size/rate with minimal effort from the user. P2 will also playback at up to 30 frames per second, twice the category average!
Bluetooth 2.0
Bluetooth is a wireless standard which will enable the P2 to pair with other Bluetooth 2.0 devices. The range of the Bluetooth connection is 32.8 feet. P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening.
Touch screen navigation
The touch-screen interface named EmoTrue goes beyond just tapping the screen. Users can swipe a finger across the screen for functions like fast forward or next picture.
Plays MP3, WMA and OGG files
MP3 files are the most common music format available today. WMA uses a high quality compression technology so users can have smaller files that sound in near CD quality Works with Rhapsody, Napster, and Yahoo! so users can download up to 4 million songs and take them on the P2 (separate subscription is required).
FM tuner/recorder with presets
The built-in FM Tuner will scan the entire FM range in less than 60 seconds and automatically place the available FM stations into presets. To eliminate stations with marginal reception, users can adjust the sensitivity to only preset stations with strong reception.
Photo text viewer
You can view your photos and text files on the P2. Zoom, rotate, customize text size, color and font makes these great features even more powerful.

Let me start by saying that this is a great little device. It sounds FANTASTIC and I have had no problems with it at all. I feel bad for the reviewer who received the scratched unit as mine looked brand new and came with the latest firmware installed.
The device has bluetooth support for headphones, file transfers, and with the proper firmware it can even be used to make phone calls when paired to a bluetooth enabled phone.
The P2 also features a decent FM radio with automatic presets and recorder.
The screen is smaller than that of the iPod touch, however personally think the screen on this device is nicer.
This device also has an insane amount of battery life. I took it on vacation for several days and got more than 30 hours out of it before it needed to be recharged.
The only real issues that I have with the device are with the touchscreen's sensitivity and a slightly awkward interface. Overall, a very good buy. |

First one I got case was somewhat beat up. Was only picking up one radio station. Could not hear voice in songs, over bluetooth or over radio, everything else was really quiet. Tried the three most recent firmwares and two different headphones and no improvement.
Returned it for another one, second one is even more beat up (I thought these were open box, not garage sale). Back looks like a cat used it as a scratching post. It came with the first ever firmware on it. Player worked pretty good (not great) until the firmware update, after which I have the same problems as the first one. I'm going to attempt to put the original firmware back on it, if that doesn't work I'm returning it. |

After looking over all the mp3 players on the site the Samsung P2 jumped out at me the most. Did tons of review searching on Youtube and some other sites and could find no faults but I did find lots of comparisons to the Ipod Touch. After receiving the product it was as simple as installing the software provided, and then adding files to the library. And for those worried about video conversion and quality, it is top notch and relatively quick. Screen and picture quality is top of the line and the wide screen makes all the difference when watching videos. The extra features are more than enough to keep me happy and I haven't even tried the Bluetooth yet. All in all great buy well worth the money and I recommend to anyone. |
