This is the first portable computer I've ever owned. I've had it for about two years and its great. I upgraded the ram to 2gb and replaced the hard drive with a 500gb HDD. I use it for low end gaming such as MINECRAFT and some steam games. It's perfect for anyone looking for a small netbook.
Fabulous product!!!!

Just buy one now. I am a road warrior, and travel a lot, and this unit has performed flawlessly. Might need a little more ram, but that is not the fault of the unit. Runs as good as my Dell notebook, and weighs about one quarter as much. Shows fingerprints badly on the cover, but it just needs a quick wipe to shine as new.
Good screen, all usb ports run external hard drives and dvd drives, just no drawbacks. Like I say, just buy one now.
Great net book.. don't leave home without it!

I love this little netbook. It's fast, small, and really portable. I received my Asus about 5 days before I left for Japan. Sitting in airports, watching school lectures on the plane, and talking to family via skype while I was overseas was no problem for the Eee. Though I would've liked to have the white model, the black does look pretty cool (it just gets fingerprints).
Benefits:
Really frickin long battery life
Windows 7
nifty little mousepad that has tons of features
Drawbacks:
not my 1st pick of color
could DEFINITELY benefit from 2GB of ram, just like every netbook probably.
umm.... I'm having trouble thinking.
Nice little machine

My husband got me this for my birthday two months ago, and I'm really pleased so far. The initial setup was a bit worrisome. It took a while for it to go through its paces and I thought it was locked up, but after a few minutes, it was up & running. The battery life is amazing, and it's so light. Being able to toss this puppy in my bag and have it barely be heavier is awesome especially when lugging around heavy textbooks. I did recently upgrade to 2GB of RAM to make it zippier. My only complaint there is that I had to get into the BIOS in order for it to SEE the extra RAM. Even with two restarts it was only seeing 1GB of RAM. I highly recommend picking up a high capacity flash drive & installing some type of drive virtualizer - it's been great to be able to use CDs or DVDs and still have it be a lightweight machine.

Great little netbook, great price. Improved keyboard over other models. Love the 10 hour battery.
What Is A Cell? It's a
battery
Though technically a battery has multiple cells, we are accustomed to calling a
single energy cell a battery as well.
In
electronics, a battery or voltaic cell is a combination of many electrochemical
Galvanic cells of identical type to store chemical energy and to deliver it in
the form of electricity. The battery cells combine to produce more energy
(voltage or amps) than a cell by itself. When joined in this way, it is a
battery of cells. Almost all portable electronics use one or more cells -
rechargeable or disposable. The more cells, the more energy available -
meaning more hours of use usually.
In Notebook computers, the battery case usually
holds three or more cells. 3 Cell batteries tend to provide about 1-3
hours of use, depending on the energy needs of the Laptop. 6 cell (or
more) batteries provide much more energy, and many more hours of use. This
can be good or bad! More cells mean longer use, but more weight too!
So remember to always check for the number of
cells if specified, and choose the right configuration for your use.
Battery Trivia:
The invention of the first battery (known as a Voltaic pile) was in 1800 by
Alessandro Volta! The first known usage of the battery (as we know it
today) was in 1863 by the physician named Flora Bills.
Recovery Media
Most computer systems no longer include "Recovery Media" (Disks or CDs used to restore your computer system to it's factory shipped state). Many do not even include Operating System disks.
This is not specific to systems purchased from any one company, but now standard practice throughout the entire industry.
However, many manufacturers include software on the hard drive that creates recovery media for you. This allows burning your own set of recovery CDs or DVDs - all you need is the blank media.
Inclusion of such a recovery utility varies by manufacturer and model; not all manufactures and models include such a utility. For those that include such a utility we recommend you create your own set of recovery media after completing the Windows installation. In other words, right after you start using your PC!
If you fail to do this and encounter a difficulty in the future you may not be able to properly restore your computer.
Some manufacturers may have physical recovery media available separately for purchase; consult your owner’s manual support information section for additional information. Systems that do not come with a CD/DVD burner may still include Recovery Disks - please check the manufacturer's specs.
