my gamer son loves it, so does his friends
built our first computer, my son and me, and bought the hd5850 because of user reviews, i'm not a gamer. Fired it up and works great, I didn't realize both 6 pin plugs needed power, due to the two DVI outs?, but after both were plugged in worked great.

Nice
I moved to this from a Radeon 4830 which was a great card for the money. The 5850 is quite a jump. On the CS Source stress test I was averaging way over 200 fps even with AA set at 8 at 1650x1080. I ran Batman Arkhum at at about 60 fps at top settings and at 1650x1080. That was before overclocking it 10 percent.

Should of stuck with my 3870 X2
Well I'm sure this card has strengths for intense 3d gaming from all the other reviews. But I, as well as many other people have issues with screen flickering while using dual monitors. This video card throttles its ram back to save energy. When doing so causes flickering when using ati over drive. Seems its great for 3d applications but not good at all for the 2d stuff. Many people along with myself have found a fix but it takes a little bit of doing and some know how of bios flash. I was able to pull the bios off the card set the clocks to max all the time and program it back in the card with ati flash. Once I did that I didnt have an issue. The card runs very cool on my daily operations. It didnt seem to overheat like previous versions of refrence cards I have owned in the past.

THE BEAST !
This card is installed in my gaming rig and we call it the beast ! This card has handled everything we threw at it. F1 2010, COH, COD, Splinter Cell, FEAR, and many more. I always but visiontek because I know if something happens to the cards they'll replace them. Just keep the receipt and you'll always have a working card !
