Been using computers for over 20 years. Gateway and Acer have been my choice for the last 6 years. I love this one best of all, as it does what I want. No disk drive? Don't be fooled, all disk drives are obsolete, flash and hard drives hold more than disks. The advantage is power to do just about anything in everyday computing. Mostley browsing and downloading, hook up to the TV using the HDMI, and your are in business, with quality pics and sound. Download a Blu-Ray Movie, watch it, you don't need a Blu-Ray disk drive. Love It. Can Take it anywhere!!
The cons: has a hard time switching back to internal speakers, after using an external set or HDMI, but the inconvience is OK, just go to sounds and change back.

I am really impressed with this unit. I can't believe how fast it is and how nice the features are. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This Acer 1410 is the best deal I've gotten in a long time technology wise. With 250G it is big enough to take all the programs I need to have on the road.
As soon as I got it I upgraded the RAM to the max of 4g and this little unit is faster than my big desk top computer with a terabyte hard drive with 8g of RAM. I also bought a Sony external DVD burner and even with the extra RAM and DVD the price was less than $450.
All I can say is, what a great deal!

I'll keep this review simple. If you have ever thought about buying a netbook, save yourself the grief and buy this instead. This is everything a netbook should be, and when upgraded to 4GB of ram and Windows 7 64 bit, you can't go wrong for all that you get for this price.
Nice screen size, excellent battery life. Performance is a bit slow, but that is what you get with a netbook. Overall, a great computer to surf the net while sitting on the couch or some light word processing but too small to do any serious work that requires a lot of typing or many open programs.

What Is A Cell? It's a
battery
Though technically a battery has multiple cells, we are accustomed to calling a
single energy cell a battery as well.
In
electronics, a battery or voltaic cell is a combination of many electrochemical
Galvanic cells of identical type to store chemical energy and to deliver it in
the form of electricity. The battery cells combine to produce more energy
(voltage or amps) than a cell by itself. When joined in this way, it is a
battery of cells. Almost all portable electronics use one or more cells -
rechargeable or disposable. The more cells, the more energy available -
meaning more hours of use usually.
In Notebook computers, the battery case usually
holds three or more cells. 3 Cell batteries tend to provide about 1-3
hours of use, depending on the energy needs of the Laptop. 6 cell (or
more) batteries provide much more energy, and many more hours of use. This
can be good or bad! More cells mean longer use, but more weight too!
So remember to always check for the number of
cells if specified, and choose the right configuration for your use.
