Onkyo TXSR606B Home Theater Receiver
As part of the second generation of Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers,
the TX-SR606 is at the forefront of affordable home theater. The key is to have
the most capable version of HDMI. The TX-SR606 provides high-definition video
and audio processing for four source components—another first for Onkyo
at this level. From Blu-ray Disc players to gaming consoles and cable/satellite
boxes, you have everything in the digital realm covered. Apart from 1080p video,
the TX-SR606 can upscale all video signals to 1080i, regardless of the connection,
for output via HDMI. Onkyo’s own RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) also
gives you inter-operability with the displays and playback components from other
leading brands. And with an expanded version of Audyssey’s room correction
technology, the TX-SR606 maintains the fullness of surround sound audio quality
at low volume levels. The TX-SR606 offers all-round excellence rarely seen at
this level.

THIS PRODUCT IS AN OPEN BOX RETURN
For a variety of reasons customers may return a product after opening and, in some cases, using it briefly. We usually send these products back to their manufacturer but sometimes, after we inspect the product, we decide it’s better to offer it for sale at a discount then return it to its manufacturer. We put these products through a rigorous 7 point check to make sure they are in good condition and working properly. There may be a minor blemish and occasionally the original manuals may be missing but you can buy with confidence knowing the product is covered by its manufactures warranty and support. Don’t delay; open box products are priced right, available in very limited quantities and sell out fast.

I ordered this unit because I was lured by the great price. However, I was disappointed to find that it was defective once I got it delivered and hooked up. The defect was that when I first turned it on, it would work, but then when I turned it off and back on again, I got no audio. I had to do a factory reset to get it back. But then it would go away again at the next powercycle. So I returned it.
I then did some more research online and concluded that the manufacturer of this unit seems to have quality control issues. I ultimately wound up purchasing a different brand receiver.
Got what I expected

This receiver is what I wanted and is functioning great. I did buy an open box and had to return the first one because of a buzzing sound coming from the receiver. This retailer handled the return and getting me another on very professionally. It works great!
Great so far

Have had the unit installed for about a month now, and love it. Using my existing Boston Acoustics surround speakers and sub-woofer, and a set of Kenwood outdoor speakers on the patio as my 2nd room (5.1 + 2 setup). Had an older Denon that I replaced to get full HDMI / 1080p support. Depth of surround sound is FAR superior, and it definitely reduced my cable clutter. Also very nice to be able to play my Zune on the patio and watch TV in the living room simultaneously. Set-up was a long, tedious process, but not too painful. The built in program that calibrates the surround sound balance was pretty cool, and apparently quite effective. Only lingering problem is that my Comcast DVR remote is not able to operate the receiver. It's probably premature to rate the quality, since it's only been a month, but so far so good. Rated it a notch below on Features only because the display is rather minimalist... typical UI designed by engineers. They should hire Apple to design the front.

This is a quality receiver at a great price. I had a HTIB prior to this and I didn't know what I was missing. The receiver makes music, movies and anything else sound great. I also purchased the Onkyo SKSHT540 Home Theater Speaker System to go with it and love it.I made my purchase after researching for nearly a year and finding nearly perfect reviews over and over. It might not have a name you know, but the product can't be beat.
